No need to appeal there was no court case at all. You cant appeal what you never defended. We will soon have a court ruling that Nigeria should be divided.

The fact they're appealing means they don't know their job.

How can legislators make laws and the judiciary nullifies it?

Where then is the place of separation of powers?

If any stakeholder have problems with any act of Parliament the best solution is lobby and move motion for amendments.
you guys don't know shit. any law made that contradicts the constitution is void and of no effect to the extent of its contradiction. a political appointee is not a public servant. he therefore has the right to vote and be voted for. that is the constitution for you.

The Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia had on Friday ordered the Attorney General of the Federation to delete Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022.

84(12): “No political appointee at any level shall be voting delegate or be voted for at the Convention or Congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election”.

apart from bandits, boko haram and iswap, what case has Buhari loose in this country? NASS is trying to fall their own hands by opting to fight Buhari. Even though his time is up, he knows the button to press and all this wuru wuru go calm. Let them be wise and delete that section. After Buhari, then amend it to fit the new government. I strongly support the deletion of that section. I don't want Tinubu there.

Bro the judiciary has the power to nullify any law, if the law is against public interest, contrary to doctrine of equity and good conscience
If it is legislative rascality
This is the doctrine of checks and balance

It's all about politics. The only way APC will retain power is to hand it to South South candidate. This would make them win votes from SS/SE and even SW (they wouldn't have any practical option). The only moral place to cede the ticket is SE but this is politics, the party is not strong there. SW has no moral right to ask for presidency now but they have positioned themselves well for the ticket. The truth is that no single region can win presidency. Voting blocks in Nigeria remains North/SE-SS/SW. Any of the two combined would defeat the third.
The SW media wing is actually pushing Igbos to demand for presidency from PDP and Igbos shouldn't fall for this. Reason is this, apart from the bad blood caused by IPOB, APC is the incumbent party. Why would APC Kaduna leave APC candidate to vote for PDP SE candidate. A SW presidency means a longer wait for SE (16years).

The political move SE can make now is to join forces with Northern PDP and win 2023. Build bridges and position themselves for 2031. Be ready to get jabs on nairaland from SW that Igbos are only good for vice presidency or are Fulani slaves. Don't be moved by these. That's the only solution and Yorubas played it in 2015. A Yoruba candidate wouldn't have stood a chance against any SS/SE candidate of PDP in 2015 as the incumbent party would have deployed their machinery to crush them. They wouldn't also stand a chance if PDP is incumbent party in 2031 with an Igbo presidential candidate.

This is the truth an Igbo with his emotional part wouldn't want to hear or a cunny Yoruba wouldn't want people to know.
I read your write up and was super proud to read it over and over again. This was one hell of political cum mathematical calculation and you nailed it . cuddles

The NASS have themselves to blame for the turn of events.

They accented to every and any request of the executive until they earned themselves the sobriquet of "rubber stamp".

Now that they have come out with a law by virtue of the power vested in them by the constitution, the same executive they've hitherto pandered to all its whims and caprices to the bemusement of the populace, is challenging their right to make laws not favourable to the "Putin-in-Chief".

Alas!

Too little, too late!

Buhari has used you guys as dirty, filthy rags and now prepared to dump you.

After all, 2023 is just around the corner.

The checks and balances expected of a true NASS was traded away for a pot of porridge.

Who says Bubu is not intelligent?

Where's the check and balance? If national assembly makes law that is against the constitution, judiciary nullifies it.

for a starter, public servants don't vote and cannot be voted for. they are not members of any political party. Malami is a member of APC, he has rights to vote and can be voted for. if the constitution grants a political appointee the right to belong to a political party can the same constitution take away the privileges accruing to being a member of that party? you say I can be a member of a club but I cannot partake in their activities. how is that possible? make we see truth talk am. this law is going down faster than Norwich City from the EPL.

If the judiciary can nullify the laws made by the legislative arm of the government,it means that the house is useless and should therefore be disbanded

It all started when the judiciary started adding to the law provisions that are not in the Constitution and when the judiciary dare the legislator not to carry out their responsibility in amending the law.
