I would get another job or another source of income. PERIOD!

I’m being owed but I’m not calling them up yet God will provide I’ve really done well in my lifetime thanks to the boss of all bosses

I don’t think I can lose my job . I just need to stay updated that’s all . Besides I’m into so many things these days . If one no bring money. The other go bring money 247 looking for money

But if it happens that I stop working for like two years, I go just need to lower my standard of living , I go still Dey do normal

I have been thinking about this recently, if I lost my job what next?

Well I will go and learn a skill while search for another job. Currently I want to learn tailoring by next month till December let me see how well it will go. I'll combine the both. My work is a field work so I'll have time. Once I visit those on the field, my work don end for the day. So I want to utilize my day, weeks and month learning a skills.

me as i am currently working i have started thinking outside the box, just started i side hustle of poultry farm and the profit is even more than my monthly salary

I strongly believe this is one of the hardest questions some people would want to ask themselves, but to the fact remains that we ought to be realistic.

I have met couple of guys who had lost their jobs , and it was not funny at all. They tend to be somewhat miserable.

It is never something anyone would wish for their enemies. Even the ones who have managed to build their own houses are not equally spared as I recently met one and had this great pity on him .

Even to my enemies, I would not want to see them in such state as reality always dawns on people when they experience retrenchment. Most people could tell you one thousand and one ways they would have improved their lives if given a second chance, but the truth is it's like comparing theory with practical. Both can never be the same.

Everyone cannot be an entrepreneur hence I would advise we all go into it.

Now to my question, how would you practically avoid this miserable state especially if you are earning now, or how have you avoided it in the past?

Backups for Job Loss:
1. learn a Hand/person/outside office Skill (might look Demeaning to you...but Generates income) eg.Uber
2. Save a much as you can when the Going is Good....(min of 30% of your Salary) I know its not Easy

Not funny at all, done with nysc last year November, and it was as if i was sacked really....but thank God..I got my first job via nairaland here. .and today is my first day at work sef.....apart from transportation wahala...my job seems cool and sweet for a fresh graduate ( pay isn't much tho) .

What a scary question, I pray we never find ourselves in such condition, I recently did something that could make my employer dismiss me, if not for the Grace of God and my parent and my siblings intervention,i would have been long gone.May our source of token never run dry and may we not be the cause of our own predicament.

In fact its just as if the you are presently reading my mind, this question has been a vey scary one and i always think of it everyday. i have lost my job time without number and i saw hell during this period, now that God has saved me by securing another one am always scared of not losing it. i worked Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm, i have child in university and others are in secondary school. all these has created a serious fear for me, as am typing am seriously sick and yet am in office because i dont want to lose my job, this job is so tedious yet i manage to do it as i cant afford to suffer my family again. am seriously searching for another job with rest of mind

Did you experience retrenchment then? I had a friend who lost his job in 2015, and if it wasn't for the grace of God, he would have transitioned into the afterlife. He lost his job with months of no payment for works done, had a new born baby and also a quit notice.

He is now a big man, but it wasn't easy at all. Just common 1k naira, e fit salute me 5 times .

Losing my source of income (banking) during COVID was crazy. I contemplated suicide. Life was freaking tough. My savings could only help for about 3 months. Took me about 2 years to overcome the depression. I will NEVER wish anyone to go through what I went through.

Although am also a salary earner... That's why I do advise people to venture into business or to have skills that will land them another job if they lost the current one.....I pray our source of income will not dry

Fear and lack of will power will continually chain lots of men and women.
I have quit my job before. Sank a little bit and learnt to float again.

Sometimes losing your job can be the best thing to happen to you. It will open your eyes to possibilities if you don't let tears and fears to blind you.

Keep moving. Keep moving. Never stop.

Good times don't last forever. Stay focused & eat more chocolates.

Losing your job can be a blessing. It makes you stronger and helps you find YOUR OWN WAY instead of constantly walking in another man's path and bearing the burden of constant fear of being chased away like a rat from the office.

The power to look at your so called boss eye to eye and say FVCK YOU, take back your stupid job, is a very powerful feeling very few will get to experience... Because of fear. Thank God I did it years ago. My brother did it too, today he is a young boss too.

it will be hard...its like asking me not to surf or browse the internet for a day....in this hard and harsh Nigerian economy, you are talking of loosing one's source of income.....God forbid!

It's really a pity you are going through that phase at the moment. In this country, one is always on their own when such calamity happens. No help from anywhere even the so called Government we pay our hard earned tax to.

Just keep knocking on every door you see, and eventually God will open one for you .

I lost my job as a porter in 2013, then I was doing part time at Lagos poly. Up till date I'm yet to secure a job. Sincerely it's not been easy. Some people will just conclude that witch dey your family and village people dey do you

What of in a case where it takes you two to three years to secure another job, would your 6 months savings carter for your rent, feeding and other bills?

Don't tryna look at me like a pessimistic person. People are everyday going through this phase of life, and it's heartbreaking when you hear that they even tried in achieving one or two stuffs but ended up losing them trying to keep body and soul together.
