Telegraph, make una keep quiet, stop politicising this thing. That memo didn't meet standards of a memo for a contract for that amount of money.

Those who don't understand international best practices on how things work will begin to display their ignorance here.

Commenter here are either commenting based on hatred for Osibanjo or ignorance. Only a few actually love this country.

So in other words lets blame the attack on Prof. VeePee.

No wonder he was the first as usual to pay a condolence visit.

..but then what is his gain in all this.

Our ipob folks will chop Osibanjo raw for the next 2weeks
They have never ever seen anything good about him

But if it was on ground of lack of credible history of the company they declined the contract, couldn't they simply have asked Ameachi to contract a much more experienced company. I think the bottom line is that they failed to see the importance of such a security project given that there never recorded such an attack before now.

So, the vice-president had no other place to hide than to ask: what brand? Now, ask yourself, of what relevance is that in the equation? None! The minister had brought many memos including the ones that approved the purchase of coaches and nobody asked for the brand. So, why ask for brand in this instance?
The person that asked this is very stupid and he must think everyone is stupid like him. Even a low level branch manager will ask for brand of a purchased equipment worth 100k let alone almost 4 billion

Whenever you go to defend a budget and it is turned down with queries, it is the responsibility of the sponsor to represent with clarifications where needed.

As much as I liked Amaechi, he scored a low on this because he had several opportunities to re-present his proposal to council even many times that PMB presided afterwards.

Is this where they coming that they hired kaduna bandit to bumb the train so as to discredit Osinbade for his disapproval of a shallow rooted company. Both repairs of the train & the rail tracks are still Amaechi's "small chops". Amaechi is one of those taking full advantage of this unconscious reformatted Buhari that only signs every paper presented.

Don’t be fooled, that contract was outrageous, that’s why the VP struck it out. Security cam or nah, bandits would still have attacked that rail line. If bandits could hit an airport and army base that are meant to be secure, what are we saying?

Interesting country!

A company that has no 3 years TCC, one of the basic requirement to bid for a government contract. Turnover of under 10% of the proposed project and with no evidence of execution of similar projects.

The BPP guys who approved the company should be jailed.

If PYO had approved it, they would have come out to say he connived with the Organisation to steal. Now that he stepped down the approved company, not the project, they are out to say the tragedy happened because he didn't fall for their lies.

Wow! These sharks everywhere. Nigeria we hail thee.

Very apt! A generic solution would not suffice in the circumstance and asking about the brand was cool, at least that would have afforded the council members to double check by googling the brand. And we are talking 3+ billion here.

This shows that most requests are not vetted by the council because the scenario painted here should be routine practice.

I am not doubting that Ameachi made a request that was turned down. What I am doubting is this news report.

I know the minister and I know he is stubborn and forceful. Do you really think the VP alone is capable of stopping a contract that Ameachi really wanted? Ameachi that removed an NPA MD by going directly to the president, a woman who was an ally of El-Rufai?

God bless you for this piece.

only if you were a victim of that train attack. Then I will take you serious!

Osibanjo has no business being a V.P not to talk about President.

Now that same contract would be dusted up and awarded to the same useless company at a higher price maybe 30 billion naira.

Comments like this are very injurious to the well being of this country. It is bad if your first contract job is in billions especially when there is no record of you handling a similar project in a specialized field.

This is the very reason why we have so many poorly executed jobs.

The rubbish is filled with lies, so #3.7 billion contract was supposed to be awarded to a company that have a turn over of less than 100 million by Amaechi ministry which suppose to executed from the ministry's budget that might have been approved already by the federal house of assembly and signed by the president, so Osibanjo has the power to give out such fund as a vice President?

Lol. They can only package this pile of poo for Nigerians because majority are ethnically, religiously and sectionally biased 'simps'.

Imagine Amaechi not being fired for securing the services of what is clearly another thieving company quickly cobbled together to procure contract they will then dishonour with cheap and substandard work.

Has that not been the bane of the development of Nigeria till date? Some DISCO companies are incapable of delivering today, to Nigeria's detriment, because they were never competent to begin with and did not deserve to buy the DISCO the ultra-corrupt and unprincipled Jonathan literally dashed them.

Exploiting Nigerians and using them to play kalo kalo is what the likes of Amaechi enjoy whereas the visionary Osinbajo want a permanent process of competence and quality in place that will obviously deliver premium finished goods and services so we then do not have to be duplicating efforts and cash outlay expensively and unproductively for Nigeria and Nigerians.

Amaechi is a fraudster and this is just the effort of his people and/or supporters to do damage limitation over news expose that shows Amaechi to be a crook.

A whole Minister fcking around with a dodgy company in this day and age where I can even find 10 well-qualified ones throughout the world online, with established history of competence, in 10 minutes. Shior.

I am seeing the whole scenario from a different angle, what if the bombing came up in a bid to justify the presented contract that was turned down or as a means to backlash against those who supported the rejection of the contract? How can Amaechi expect such shady contracts to be approved without due process and proper scrutiny? We are talking about a prof that understands the way things should be done, not just some dick heads, who don't know their right from their left. They even asked him to represent the contract, and he could not.

Let's face reality here; how can a company with a turnover of NGN84.9m be awarded a contract of NGN3.7b? Osibanjo did the right thing. Amaechi wants to cash out from the contact. In a sane clime, he is supposed to be investigated by the police. However, in Nigeria everything goesnand he has the guts to come out now and rant!

As much as I do not like osibanjo, I support him here. You don't just pay 4bn to a company with less than 100m naira turnover in 2 years and without a track record of engaging in such contracts. Amaechi is a rogue and should be tied on a pole on the street and flogged just the way they do in Ukraine.

This report was supposed to twist things and implicate PYO. But instead it paints PYO in very good light. It proves one thing - that he isnt a leader who just signs whatever is dropped on his desk without questions.

That BPP has approved a proposal is a very dumb reason for anyone to expect the president to just sign it off without question. Afterall, all the inflated and fraudulent contracts which have come to be traditional occurrences in Nigeria, the BPP also approves them.
