Lina Marcela Medina is confirmed to be the world's youngest mother, having given birth at the age of 5 years and 7 months. Lina was born in Peru on September 23, 1933. She came from a modest family, with a mother named Victoria Losea who was a housewife, and a father named Tiburelo Medina who was a silversmith.

Lina's parents noticed an abnormal abdominal swelling when she was 5 and 6 months old, and at first thought, it was a tumor. They would never have guessed that Lina was 7 months pregnant when she was diagnosed by Dr. Gerardo Lozada. At first, the parents didn't believe it was possible to be pregnant at that age and thought Dr. Gerardo was joking. As a result, they took Lina to a specialist, who confirmed the original diagnosis.
