The ancient city of Wukari, in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State was thrown into excitement weekend, as the 40MW Kashimbilla hydro-power plant illuminated the town.

Vanguard learned that though the project is yet to be commissioned, the town is now powered by the substation.

The project, which started during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, was completed by the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reacting to the development, the Paramount ruler of the Jukun race and Aku-Uka of Wukari, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, Amatakhitswen, yesterday appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for completing the electricity project.

He said the completion of the project had been the dream of Tarabans who had been longing for a reliable power source that will cater for their needs.

He said: “Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, who was then Minister for Power, contributed immensely to the realization of the project and is greatly commended for his passion for his home state.

“As governor, his commitment to the project saw his several visits to the site and close monitoring of the work at its various stages.

“As a way of reciprocating the gesture of the government, I hereby appeal to all and sundry to safeguard electricity equipment/properties around them and help in conserving energy by using only what they need.”

He also urged his subjects to comply with prompt payment of bills to help in the smooth operation of the provider.

The First class monarch also enjoined the government to extend electricity to the nooks and crannies of the state and other communities in need of power supply.

I thought all power generated are to be first transmitted to the national grid before redistributing? Why generate locally, transmit and also distribute locally? Does this make sense? I stand to be corrected though.

You should know that the average Igbo man does not hate or hinder good developments in other regions. We're only not happy about the ill treatments the Nigerian state is giving us and its blatant justification/hate for our people/region by devilish entities like you.

All we asked was live and let live, manage and develop your nation while we manage ours.
The Nigerian state/her leaders has proven to be incompetent to drive this geographical area into prominence amongst civilised nations of the world.

And for the records, we Igbos only envy the US, Japan, Israel and other developed/civilized 1st world nations and not even South Africa much less any other place in this shit hole we find ourselves.

Just bear this in your mind, we can no longer be held back by this Fulani/terrorist led failed Nigerian state. That era/grace period has passed, we will continue to reject/resist this failed Nigeria and her hateful children like you, we won't give in to the blackmail, economic sabotage, killing/imprisonment of our innocent youths and the various vices used by this terrorist govt to subjugate our people.

Never!!

We hv rejected everything about this blood sucking Nigeria.

Biafra is the only way.

Biafra or Death!!!

Biafra has come.

ChukwuOkike is with Us.

The Southern senatorial district of Taraba was never connected to the National Grid. Now they are connected by virtue of the power generation and can receive supply from the National Grid.

This is great. We must actively and intentionally invest in our human capital. There is really no sane reason why we can't have stable power other than the fact that we have to rely on other countries to build the plants. What economic interest would it be for them, that the biggest black nation with this massive market is productive and unreliant on their exports.

We have a long a way to go, we cannot continue to live like this.

U are very stupid for classifying Tarabans who are non-Hausa & majority Chriistians as almajiri.
This foolish assertion by u shows that u are very dull & have very poor knowledge of other pple outside ur region.
That is why u stupidly called Tarabans almajiri even though u have no idea about their tribes & religion

This is the key to power sustainability. Generate locally or regionally and consume locally. Let each region make use of their natural resources to generate power.
SS can use gas, SW & SE can use gas or coal or hydro, North can use wind or solar. Excess generated would go to national grid. This would speed up industrialisation.
