I tend to agree with you that the 8.5billion valuation may be overestimated, yet the true worth is way more than the 150million on offer in the initial post.

Dont forget that despite the plethora of broke people, a lot of other people still do business on Nairaland and are able to monetize up to millions. There are blossoming careers that are leveraging on Nairaland in the real estate, autos, dropshipping, and several other unpopular sections, but because our focus is often on politics, entertainment, romance and sports sections we think not much money can be generated from Nairaland.

Another aspect is that because Nairaland itself is a successful media and publicity entity, there is an intrinsic value or goodwill it possesses which is not based on cashflows but its continental popularity. Meaning that whoever wants to purchase Nairaland is not buying only its cashflows, but also the automatic publicity it gives its owner as well as the immense advertising potential.

In all, I would go for a more conservative estimate of around 3 to 5 billion Naira, factoring in the weak naira due to current inflation and exchange rate.
