Finally someone that understands my thoughts.
I have googled Ondo State tire and the kind of reports I see are very distressing, the city is 1 hour away from Akure that has an airport and looking up Akure by air, it does seem like no airline goes to that place.

I spent hours searching for flights to Akure didn't see any.

Ofcourse I do love her and value her, but like you have said, living in Nigeria is like being in an active war zone and the risk of being on that stretch of road for 4 hours to and fro and about 3 times thats really making me feel discouraged.

With the current state of security in the country, i wouldn't be in a car or train from Lagos to Ibadan.

Break up with her.
So God can give her the husband he designed for her.

If this is a reason then you do not value her. If they told you to come 6 hours journey and take senatorial ticket for formality sake because the position has been kept for you, you will go.

Please release that lady I beg you.

Is it possible for me to tell her to bring her family to where I am ? grin grin grin grin
That will be an automatic F for you. It's not done in most cultures.

If you were the one your guy told you he loves you but he is unable to bring himself to travel to your parents because of the risk of the road (which by the way is a very valid risk) what would you do ?
I'd know that the relationship is headed nowhere. I can't go to meet him, and he is not willing to come to meet me, so na just play we dey play.

To even think of bringing my family on that route and expose them to the dangers of the Nigerian roads even puts me in a difficult state....
Let me suggest this. Try to travel just once and feel the experience. No pain no gain. Just ONCE and it will inform your next line of action.

Which of them ?

Thanks everyone for your contributions, I think the key thing here is if she is worth fighting for .
Marry a younger or older lady. If the lady is from Ondo like you said, I am guessing from akoko sef, you aren't permitted to break up with her. If from another state, you can go ahead cool. I know of a couple who recently married, they are both from Ondo but work in Lagos, they went back to Ondo state, Ondo township to be precise for the wedding some weeks back.

Safety is of the Lord. You may not be lucky to find a suitable lady whose parents are based where you are. Life is about risks, some of us are low-risk takers.

Two trips should be enough to get the introduction, engagement & wedding done.

Your safety takes precedence over any relationship, love or marriage.

I will never under any circumstances travel by road in Nigeria for 4 hours.
I will never visit any city without an airport.

Be safe out there in that jungle. No rule of law, no government presence.
Arrest is yet to be made in the last train attack while a new born baby langushes in captivity. I doubt if anyone is investigating.
When in Nigeria, i consider myself to be in an active war zone.
Well done. So those of us living and thriving in Nigeria are what? Aliens from another solar system? You stay in the west and confidently declare a whole country an active war zone because of misrepresentation from the media.

You know what you are? You are what the white people call a coon.

I understand you well, i too have phobia for traveling on nigerian roads and mainly cuz of incessant kidnapping by bandits

About you claiming your gf as virgin, never believe any nigeria girl a virgin at all at all
oldienavie:
So I have been dating my girlfriend for 3 months and she is perfect, actually she is a virgin, well behaved and very respectful. The relationship is going very fine but I am starting to really think deeply and I may just break up.
Why ? I have lived abroad for a while and do have a very serious phobia for travelling on Nigerian roads, her parents are a journey of 4 hours from where I am and I understand the area is rife with kidnapping and robbery of all sorts.

I find myself obsessing over having to make that trip to her parents place and also have my family embark on that journey and I always shudder at the thought of it.

I am seriously considering breaking up with her and looking for a lady whoose parents are here in the same city I reside, cos one of the things that gives me serious head ache is travelling on Nigerian roads.

Since I got back to Nigeria I have not travelled outside of the city that I am and it is because of how serious that phobia is.

But how do I tell her I am breaking up with her for this reason, it sounds very trivial but its a serious issue for me.

Reading your post, it appears the Nigerian educational system is worse than I thought it was.
Your response is not just disjointed but fails to convey any meaningful message.
The fact that something does not bother you does not mean it doesn't bother other people, learn to think outside of your own mindset and understand that people are different.

Also, learn to respond to people in a more decent and respectful way, don't just type anything because you are on the internet.

You are right. Apart from the educational system many Nigerians are unnecessarily bitter, frustrated and generally unpleasant. They are quick to insult and denigrate people at the slightest opportunity. Poverty is the core of this very irresponsible behaviour.

Don't break up it's very hard very hard seeing a good girl among them they are cheating parasites with nothing to offer, stay with her but don't travel look for a way to mitigate this with members of your family bit at the same time it becomes a must, travel unannounced, it it's the east DON'T GO.

You kidding right?
I don't know your story but I believe u grew up in Nigeria before travelling out...

Are u gonna break up with ur girl because of lack of security?...

If you scared... you can always hire a private security guys or probably visit the police station to seek for a private escorts....

Most of the expertise living in Nigeria traveling around Nigeria with escorts and they are safe...

If u don't love her anymore... just break it to her maturely
Don't punish ur gf because of her country failure...

Loool, guy rest abeg, just talk say you no love her, your excuse is baseless and holds no water.

Why not use flight,or better still, someone from your family can represent you and everything will be done on your behalf, stop deceiving yourself and giving useless excuse.

Oga if you want to break up with her, break up for a reason that's caused by her.

Your phobia for roads cannot fly for a justification to break up with her. This life isn't about you!

That means if you marry another today and tomorrow she decides to travel interstate with you, you go wan divorce am.

This is a journey you'll go just once in groups...more reasons you'll be careful. Why? You must also travel even if you meet sb else.

Rather than being overly phobic, explore other security measures like hiring the security personnel, plying better secured routes, not going at night and all that...but breakup? Tell me sth else, chief!

It's a one off journey I presume. You could as well get adequate security or better still insist her people come over and all costs and logistics will be on you. If you truly value her, these options won't be a big deal

You sound like a privileged person, so why don't you propose moving your in-laws and everyone to Kenya or Dubai for the nuptials?
Since traveling in Nigeria is the problem.

Is there an airport in your state of residence and one close to the state of residents of her parents? If yes, then consider flying. Worst is when it is time for the wedding, you go with the number of people you can cater for their flights.

You are missing the point, I have a phobia for travelling on Nigerian roads, I avoid it as much as I can. Infact I have been in Naija almost 6 months and am not planning to travel out of this city.
When going to Lagos I use the train or fly if thats an option.

Now to bring all my family on that route for an occasion like marriage, would mean I have to ply that road up to 10 times at least going back and forth with family.
That scares me.

Wetin be the name of ur gf? Be like say I no am
