You battered someone's face in the name of culture. It's actually irritating. The little one in form of a dash is preferably okay but the annoying ones are like Nigerian map. 81 Likes 5 Shares |

I actually like facial scars and hope the tradition continues. It's not much different from tattoos and other types of body modifications. What's wrong is that it's done to children. It should be consensual and for adults only. Similar to the Maui in New Zealand. 27 Likes 3 Shares |

I have two facial marks on each of my cheeks. In my early days, I felt so terrible with them but now, I have grown to appreciate them. The story behind the marks is that I had convulsions when I was little and grandma had to mark me to save my life. MODIFIED: That's not me up there, it's a random pics from the net. I am a guy and my marks look very cute. I can say I am a handsome dude that would not pass for an average looking guy Moreover, the lady up here is beautiful 191 Likes 15 Shares

In aa much as it used to be cultural identity of some region, i would still say not all aspect of culture should be upheld especially with enlightenment of the general populace, another one that use to be very common was female genital mutilation. Most of the reasons behind those practices were actually born out of ignorance, cos i dont see how scarification prevents convulsion, or spleenomegally etc 5 Likes 1 Share |
