He made the statement because he wants to prevent southerners from attacking the northerners in the south. Obviously, the southerners can not differentiate between Mali-fulani and Nigeria-fulani. This will help in preventing attack on northerners.

Pls in your spare time, take a look at the map of Africa spanning from Libya in the north to Mali and then to Nigeria close to d atlantic. Also take a look at the map of Nigeria so that u see the closest Nigerian states to Libya and Mali. Also find if ondo state is one of those states. Can u pls tell me how foreigners moved from Libya to Mali and got into Nigeria in the north and were able to successfully make their way down south to ondo state to perpetrate this evil and they were not spotted by anyone

Perhaps, you don't know much about this people. I have come across Hausas who from Niger, Togo, etc. And there re some who re came as far as even Mali- Tuareg. Those who were in oshodi, Lagos way back in the 1990/ 2000 can attest to this, that we once had small population of Arab on Lagos street begging for money. Atleast, I came across them more than 3 times within 2001- 2004.

Now, you tell me how did they get to Nigeria?
