We have security living on the farm. The nearest village settlement is about 10 mins walk. About 30 mins on bike to ilorin town
And bro please try adding boerboel dogs and our local bingo dogs as security at your farm. You can also add geese if you have money for it. Geese are good at alerting people when intruders or snakes is sighted. Nice one bro, i will soon join you in the goat farming. But I need to arrange grass, structure, but I will deal on wad goat only, then later cross bred with boer, but need to start somewhere first. Nice thread ๐Ÿ˜Š

Do you rear the cows for milk, meat or both?

Grass fed raw cow's milk is liquid gold.
From raw cow's milk, one can produce butter, cream, cheese, among others.

By the way, I like your farm.
Thank you ma. They were reared for meat. We dont have them anymore

Nice work sir, congratulations to you....I have similar project in mind. Mine will be a pig farm and poultry farm and ofcourse there will be room for goats and cattle in the coming years. For now, I am working on the feeding. I have a farm of cassava, soybeans and maize.... specially to that effect.
My question is, are the seedlings some form of grass for feeding them when they grow? Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yes sir, the grass has enough protein contents to improve livestock growth

when i saw you planting bracharia grass i knew you understood what you where doing. You can as well add centrosema and napier since you'd be having constant water supply all year round .
Its like you read my mind sir. I'm looking to add those two this year. Centrosema or lablab with super napier

Will do. The goats are in good health but they are infested with fleas. If anyone can recommend a safe chemical that can be applied with a backpack sprayer, I'd be grateful to hear about it. I would like to eliminate those fleas completely before I start milking the goats.
We spray our goats with this and it works well for us

How much is the cost of digging this manual borehole.
Over a million for digging and casting alone. The manual hand pump is another cost alone.

We considered the costs of generator and having to fuel it and repairs. I opted for the manual hand pump cos it worked well for my area and saves cost

This beats me. ๐Ÿ’“

Thanks so much. It will help me salvage some cost.

This honorable mention of Amitrax is greatly appreciated, Ogawa Admix. Whenever I am in Nigeria my humble abode is surrounded by a phalanx of ferocious, bloodthirsty, and utterly loyal German Shepherd attack dogs. In recent years thanks entirely to the incursions of diseased cattle herds and their scrawny armed escorts traipsing through my neck of the woods, my dogs became infested with swarms of truly insidious-looking ticks that resisted all the locally concocted chemical tick repellents that I desperately applied in sequence.

Finally, a good friend recommended Amitrax, and sent me several bottles to try out. To my utter astonishment, the tick infestation that threatened the lives of my precious guard dogs abated almost instantly, and to this day I rarely see even a single tick on any of my faithful hounds. For tick eradication, therefore, I cannot recommend ANY other chemical remedy besides AMITRAX.

Fleas, on the other hand, have proved to be a different matter altogether. Despite repeated applications of Amitrax that were so amazingly effective against ticks, the fleas on my dogs, AND on my goats, simply REFUSE to die. This mention by Admix citing Amitrax as an effective flea repellent does, however, renew my hope that perhaps by simply increasing the Amitrax concentration, I will be able to eradicate those tenacious little insects that will end the life of any animal if left untreated.

I throway salute, my brethren, and I sure say you sef don cash am.

Or you can try another form of acaricide sir. Some tend to build resistance over time so its usually suggested to use different options

Wow, this is the first time I would learn about fleas developing resistance to applied chemicals over time. This wise counsel is appreciated, good sir. I certainly have some more research to conduct on this matter for sure.

Good day everyone. I'll try to update this thread as we progress on the farm. A passionate journey for me as i embark on livestock farming, mainly goats and some cows.
As you can see, we've started some work.

The Fulani herdsmen generally have a regional Seriki leader who can be bribed with cash to direct his subordinates to stay away from certain farms and to prevent herdsmen who are NOT part of their cooperative from showing up in a specific area covered by such an agreement.

Contacting the police after the fact is a pointless course of action because the police have been instructed from the federal level to hands-off any and all farmer's complaints about crop damage. It is better to accept this reality and use strategic bribes to prevent invasions from occurring in the first place.

Joe Biden vowed to make Saudi Arabia a pariah state. He failed, he bent the knee, crown prince MBS prevailed.
He blamed President Putin

What happened? He failed.

This is a good option...

Another complementary action is to insure your farm.

But people are averse to Insurance in Nigeria.

Re: Adamix Farms by Hadsty23(m): 8:03am On Apr 28, 2023
Boss, please help me look at this below:
She has been battling this when breastfeeding the infant.

One breast seems smaller and the kid are only able to suck from the smaller breast only. I had called a vet for her 2years ago but a quack one, instead the vet almost got her killed.
And since then I did not time to check on the goat

The kids always ended growing up malnourished with retarded growth and pale skincolor

Mr @Jidestroud and all boss, please I need a help on this
