The person who doesn’t get nearly enough attention in this incident is the driver of the lead tank. He is the person who, faced with an easy target, used every manoeuvre to avoid running over and killing the mad protester with his plastic bags. The tank driver may have had military commands shouted at him over the radio telling him to just move on and follow his orders. But he took part in the dance and played the hero instead. I hate to think what happened to him for contributing to one of the most damaging photos to Chinese government reputation
