My friend note that Dstv is a business and they know their customers. There is no way a channel called Africa magic hausa can be shown in South Africa.
Why not? It's cable enabled. Don't we receive Chinese channels where only Chinese is the language of communication.

There is no branch of movie industry in Nigeria or elsewhere known as "nollywood yoruba"
Although there has been attempts to have that niche but it has often failed mainly because unlike kannywood, the proponents want to make a name by building on the foundation laid by the booming nollywood, in an exoparasite fashion. For instance, kannywood movie makers have their own association, nollywood have Actors guild of Nigeria while Western actors had Association of theartre arts practitioners of Nigeria (ATAPN) . But ATAPN seems to have collapsed just like the 'yoruwood' wood project as no one hears about them.

There is no clear distinction between regular english movies and cinema movies as most actors and producers in the smaller cinema sector also do regular nollywood movies.

There is also no clear distinction between English movies and Igbo language movies since they are done by the same people.

The only clear distinctions are:
1) Kannywood by the Northerners

2) Yoruba language movies by the yorubas

3) Nollywood by Igbos done in English and Igbo language as well in the cinemas, accommodating some modern 'lekki elements' of the Yorubas

It is the third one that is known by foreigners as the Nigerian movie industry.

Nigeria have two movie industry
Kannywood and NOLLYWOOD
Kannywood is basically Muslim and Hausa movie industry

NOLLYWOOD include

3 distinct movie industry altogether

Talking of success
Nollywood English is most popular, in like 2010 it was more of igbos (era of aki and paw paw, Sam loko efe, Mr Ibu) with few Yoruba but within the space of 10 years Yoruba have dominate NOLLYWOOD English and now standard

Best Directors are Yoruba
Highest rated movies are directed and produced by Yorubas
More than 55% actors and actresses are Yoruba

Now we all know NOLLYWOOD Yoruba is more popular and more successful than Nollywood Igbo, in fact the actors and actresses in Yoruba movies are far more successful than those in indigenous Igbo movies

First i must commend your directors, but then again directors don't own or even write the movie.
Then again, most of these so called "yoruba directed highest grossing movies", do not have more than a 6 point IMDB rating, so these movies aren't actually appealing to foreigners. It wasn't like this before, you know?

Mr ibu, Mama G, aki na paw paw.
Now those are what Carribeans are attracted to, they would rather prefer the classics or nonetheless modern films with igbo cultural setting than anything.
Why indian movie sell is because they make movies in their own style same as Nigeria, but since y'all came to the scene, you've been trying to change the pattern by copying Hollywood style thinking, it's more modernized. It's typical of Yorubas. Very "sophisticated" fellas.

Now, nollywood is the 2nd largest movie producing industry in the universe, a feat achieved decades ago by yours truly, as a main contributor.
As of today, if you ask the average Kenyan, Tanzanian, South African, Jamaican, Haitian, to tell you their fav actors in Nollywood, 99% of those names you discarded would certainly be there.

inferiority complex is what you're suffering from that's why you can't seem to stop comparing yourself to Igbos.

Since you're claiming dumb, let bring it down to your level using your gotv example. You will never see most actors in Africa magic Yoruba in any other channel. Even the most famous Yoruba actor odunlade has not managed to make a break through in Nollywood because most Yoruba language language actors speak poor English with a terrible accent. Funke akindele with all her efforts has not overcome this accent barrier.

Check out African magic Igbo, African magic epic, rok2 and African magic urban (to a reasonable extent) they feature same people who belong to AGN. This is the nollywood we know. that is why no Igbo will ever say nollywood Igbo, because it's tautology! The only people saying "Yoruba nollywood" "new nollywood" are the Yorubas in the periphery looking for a place in mainstream.

When nollywood was christened, it is on record that Yorubas in the industry opposed it. And they are correct because the obvious different historical paths. Why they refused to name their industry like Hausas is beyond me. Is it fear of failure?
Ghanaians even have a more viable film industry than the Yorubas. You are able to name your movies means you don't have a prosperous industry and you might never act if you refuse to acknowledge the need to build one from the scratch instead of forming exo-parasites unto nollywood.
