Only until recently that I started to appreciate the beauty in Nigeria. Nigeria has always been beautiful, but the information has been limited, well for me.

You guys, if you know half of the information I have with regards to travel, you’d be amazed and shocked. In Nigeria we are blessed. In culture, food, resources, sceneries, heart, beauty, a lot.

My travel journey started in 2018 when I visited Ghana via road with 4 friends and spent a week in an air bnb. It was great. We planned another African country for the following year, but life happened that year. And the year after Covid happened.

Then with Covid came a bit of some blessings, social media. The moment Covid settled out, it was like everyone was out to spend the rest of the life in gratitude and appreciating life more. That’s when I noticed a lot of travel agencies sprung up on Instagram, sharing their plot and journeys across the country, continent.

I have tried exploring a few states in Nigeria and as much as it has been exhilarating, I feel sad I waited till my late 20s to witness this.

There are states in Nigeria that have lifestyles like the foreigners but we’d never know because there’s no positive media coverage. You only get to hear about cities when there’s something negative happening.

There are other Aftican states that will be interesting to compare their lifestyles with ours and get amazed at the similarities in oblivion.

I remember when I wanted to travel to Jos and I asked on Twitter what to expect, no one was really explicit. I wanted to know everything about the culture. What to expect. I never expected that I saw, not even the strawberries that were so superrrrrrr affordable it was crazy.

Bauchi has this staple food that is rice with chips and leaves (like cabbage/salad), served with a fresh, tasty fruit juice.

Please share in the comments the States you have visited that took you by surprise. I really want to travel more, but only to places I’d have a different experience from how I’m leaving in ibadan.

I document my experiences in my YouTube channel

If you ever visit, please subscribe to the channel, comment so I know you visited, and most importantly, like the video. By “liking”, the video gets to be recommended to someone else. And this way, more people learn about other places to explore.

Where has been your favorite state to visit? Maybe not in Nigeria, another African country!

Beautiful post, thank you for sharing. I’ll be visiting Abuja this fall and would love any travel tips and suggestions on where safest to flex, enjoy live music and best restaurants to try. I’ve only been to Nigeria once (Lagos and stayed at Federal Palace, staff was awesome and so friendly, we took selfies) and this will be my second trip. I’m so excited and will be documenting my trip to Abuja and posting to my YouTube, Instagram and TikTok platforms.

Nigeria is a such a beautiful country with beautiful kind people. Yes you’ve got some bad apples and corruption issues, but name one country where this doesn’t exist in some shape or form.

Safe travels and be well friend! wink
