dabiko: You better think again. How many senators do we have in the system? How many professors do we have in the system? Do you think FG government can afford to pay that amount to the professors? It is now becoming clearer why this strike has continued to linger. 3 Likes |

Both parties should return to renegotiate wherever in the salaries and allowance for prof and other members of staff.. 1million is fair wages for profs in light of the current state of the economy... 3 Likes |

IboHausaYoruba: Did he do anything of that sort in his eight years of Anambra mismanagement and looting We don tire for pretentious rogues posing like paupers. Was that not how we ended up with Baba Yusuf drinking Milo sachets before elections. After the elections he started spending billions on chop money for Aso Rock. 3 Likes 1 Share

In as much as this pay increase is good, most Professors in Nigerian universities are too laid back- They are hardly academic and research-minded. Some got their professorship position through ass-licking, which I dont blame them fo,r as some VCs see themselves as mini gods and dish out professorship positions to their cronies. Some of them will collect both local and international research grants and use it to by SUVs, build houses and shopping malls and commission a Phd student to produce a sub-standard journal or research. 2 Likes 1 Share |

tempest01: The number of senators is less than the number of Profs in many universities. Even if FG agrees to pay, what of state and private universities? Their school fees will then jump to tens of millions, as they pay from their revenues. Also, is ASUU the only body in this country? OnceFG tries it, others will go on strike for theirs to be increased too. Medical doctors and others are just watching. Una wan finish this country finally 6 Likes 2 Shares |

lawrenzooo:All their children keep graduating from university abroad in developed countries with the lean scarce forex. Even when naira has been severely devalued. Senseless, heartless, naija is not ready to be a serious country. See one gov the other day happily displaying his 30 kids. Why won't there be corruption? They will surely need to steal the nation's scare forex resources to take care of their plenty kids and send them to school overseas. They should go and check their fellow Islamic country Egypt to find out how they are optimally managing their population. BTW upward review of salaries across board is long overdue. Since they devalue the naira, there is now suppose to be more naira to do stuff such salary increment. E.g if they earned $10b = N100b when exchange was $1= N100 & salary 100k. After devaluation earned $10b= N500b now that exchange rate is $1=N500 salary is supposed to now be atleast N350k! But uptil this moment it is still N100k coupled with near hyperinflation, so right now that 100k is very very insignificant! That's the reason there is serious hardship in the land. 1 Like |

Our professors want to become millionaires over night by earning 2M monthly. There is nothing bad in that. But they should consider the current state of Nigeria economy. The pay rise they are demanding now is not feasible, therefore, ASUU should be considerate and then work out a meaningful agreement with the FG. 4 Likes |
