A lieutenant is higher in rank fine but do you think he can give orders to a whole warrant officer?

I really can't say but back then during NYSC, the camp commandant, Lt C.S Munago's second in command was a warrant officer .

warrant officers are given assignments similar to captains. They are specialists with great experience. Even generals respect them not to talk of a 20 something year old lieutenant who just finished RC, SSC/DSSC. A warrant officer can tell a lieutenant to fvck off and nothing will happen. Infact if you want to enjoy your military career, respect them warrant officers , NCOs (privates - master warrant officers ) are the spinal cord of the army and once they start their craze like this, na you go tire.

A Lt is a senior to a warrant officer thus can give order to a warrant officer. Also a Lt can take advice from a warrant officer.

In the military, everything goes through the chains of command and rank

A warrant officer will never disrespect a 2nd lt . He go give you your respect full time but that doesn't give you the right to bullshit him. Infact if a lieutenant gives a WO an order which he perceives is wrong, he can tell you, "sir, with due respect, it's not supposed to be done this way".

Infact as a lieutenant , if you want to enjoy your career and avoid problems. Take their advice. If you disrespect a warrant officer, you disrespected all other NCOs (Privates to sergeants) and once they gat their eyes on you, they will frustrate your soul slowly. You be lieutenant wey spend 9 months for jaji or 5 years for NDA carrying 2 star for chest no mean say make u con dey do anyhow for person wey don spend 30 years for service.

Yes I agree with you on this one. as a Lieutenant, you just gotta accord respect to em cuz if anything sup wey you need boys urgently it's a MWO that you'll call to command the boys to come to ur aid and if you don fall hand for their side dem fit shenk you and no be say boys no go come o but of what use would they be when they arrive after an hour or 2 if MWO intentionally delay em? na why

A warrant officer has all the expertise and connections to Bleep a bloody lieutenant up. Warrant officers are closer to GOC, theater commanders and other generals holding appointments and juicy positions within the army. They are specialists and army dey nuture them like freshly laid eggs. Even generals give them some level of respect.

U maybe right. When i was in Delta State then, there was this man who was a Chief Warrant officer. The man get level sha ooo. If u see am, u go think say him be general. I want know weda Chief warrant officer and warrant officer are the same.

Warrant officers are NCO (non commissioned officers) meaning they didn't pass through military college (NDA) and can never be given command of a platoon or battalion. A lieutenant is a CO (commissioned officer) he passed through college would lead a battalion or platoon which has a warrant officer in times of war.

Passing through military college in the army is equivalent of attaining a university degree. Therefore an SSCE holder (be you a private or master warrant) can never be ranked higher than a degree holder regardless of his age.

A warrant officer doesn't have direct access to a GOC (a general) he reports to his CO who is most likely a captain or major.

Army warrant officer isn't easily attainable cos you would have reached retirement age before being qualified for the rank. So most NCOs get due for retirement from sergeant to master warrant officer, depending on how well you pass your courses and exams.

Yes they do, you must pass your promotional exams before you can be decorated with the next rank...that's why you see old Majors or old Captains whereras their set are already one star generals and Colonels...they failed out and are missing out as they put it in the army.

But in times of wars, participating in any war is an automatic promotion along with a medal.

Nope it's about 4-5 years. That's the duration you're expected to spend on a particular rank before becoming qualified to sit for the promotional exams to the next rank.

I heard that the exams from Colonel to brigadier general is the most difficult in the Nigerian army...and most people fail it. But there's the political factor which favours the ruling northern elites that's why there are so many northern generals today than Southerners.
