What is OPC doing in Kwara state a Northern Fulani state?

Those OPC personnels should be seriously dealt with.

Point of correction Kwara may be a northern state but is a Yoruba state. Ajase Ipo and ilorin are Yorubaland and these fulanis are trying to takeover our land

Just look at the hatred Igbo people are posting here. I cannot believe my eyes. Is this the Nairaland I joined many years back? Something should be done about Igbo people on Nairaland.

After deceiving yourself, you can go and bow
to the Emir of Ilorin, Sule Gambari
Glorified slave
The Fulanis are lenient with you guys. They should have sent you people packing from Kwara State
And mind you, Kwara is an Hausa word, derived from the River Kwara in Kaduna
So, Kwara is Fulani soil
Know this and know peace

Ode, you think I don't know the history?

It all happened in Ilorin which is a Yoruba land. Afonja was allowed to govern Ilorin by Oyo empire. Then he had a problem with Oyo king hence invited Alimi for charms. Alimi started bringing some of his people into the town while telling afonja that they will help him to defeat Oyo King if Oyo king tries to punish him. In the end, the Fulani people killed afonja in the end. That was it. The Yoruba people are still in Ilorin till now. They speak Yoruba 100%.

When the British came into Nigeria, does that make Nigeria British land? You dey mad?

Ilorin was already taken back by the Yorubas at Ilorin before the British arrived

Till today Ilorin is a Yoruba Town More than 90% of the indigenes are Yoruba

All Civilians Governors of Kwara have been Yoruba

Ilorin was founded by Afonja's Great Grandfather and the Yorubas there are of Oyo Ethnic Stock

The ruler of Ilorin when the British arrived was a Yoruba man Called balogun alanamu .

The last Emir Momoh had been defeated by the Yoruba Chiefs at Ilorin and had burnt himself alive inside his Palace

Ilorin has Fulani Presence only because the British reimposed the defeated Emir on Ilorin around 1900

Before that balogun Yoruba (Inakoju alanamu) was the actual ruler of Ilorin.

The Emir had been deposed by the Ilorin Yoruba Chiefs before the British arrived.

balogun alanamu fought the British and was exiled to Jebba after the British defeated him.

It was the British that reinstaled an Emir in Ilorin after the defeat of balogun Yoruba Inakoju alanamu due to Political Pressure from Northern Emirs .

The Emir of Ilorin had been defeated and deposed by the Ilorin Yoruba Chiefs before the British arrived.

The British left at Independence after an agreement was made to have a referendum Kwara State.

The Post independence Government of Balewa and Azikiwe frustrated that referendum by not carrying out the Kwara referendum which should have happened at the same time as the Midwest referendum in order to cripple Awolowo and his Party Politically after Awolowo had been jailed in 1962

Balewa and Azikiwe also didn't Carry out the other referendums agreed with the British before independence meant for the Eastern and Northern Minority Ethnic groups.

Ilorin still has an Emir because of Colonial and Tribal Politics

There are at least 30 Towns with Crowned Obas that Completely encircle Ilorin

Ilorin is Practically a Yoruba Town

The Emir is not Fulani but Hausa

The Hausas overthrew the Fulani at Ilorin during a big disagreement and battle between them

That was when Yoruba started Saying” Gambari Pa Fulani, Ko is ejo In be”

Which translates “ if the Hausas and Fulani’s have decided to Slaughter each other (in Ilorin) it is none of our Business

And they were Yorubanised at least a Century ago

Ilorin and Kwara are Yorubaland

Yoruba don't betray.

In all the history, it's OSU and Fulani who are known to betray, even as the Ilorin stories go.
Afonja betrayed the Oyo Empire and was betrayed by the Fulanis

I know. Thank you. I recall I read in an archives that if not for the British that came into Nigeria, Yoruba were already waging war to the North after they heard about the death of Afonja. The Yoruba defeated the emir installed in Ilorin and reinstall back a Yoruba and then proceeded to wage war to the North. They were so angry after what happened to Afonja. They were going to North. It was British coming into Nigeria that saved the North.
