This is nothing compared to how we treat ourselves even in Nigeria here. Imagine some people writing it boldly here on Nairaland that 'NO IGBO MAN WILL RULE OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY' And i will be looking at them with surprise. What you sow is what you reap.

NFF with their shameful lies. There is a very nice hotel inside the airport so why didn't they lodge the players there?

I smell lies from NFF. Very corrupt body. I wonder what they are doing with all the money they do receive from FG and FIFA. They do get money also from endorsement, advertisement and all of that.

I heard NFF gave each of the girls just 40k upon touching down in Nigeria to travel to their various destination. Very bad.

As Nigerian political officials ever slept on the floor of Istanbul?

For those spoiling country image abroad, Nigeria needs draconian laws to re shape her citizens.

If there is a Nigerian ambassador to Turkey? Then that office should be scrapped, since it's of no use to Nigerian indigenes over there. The funny thing, I see some comments not being concerned about this issue. These are the kind of people that deliberately vote in wicked and incompetent leaders just to mock others. Some black people are extremely wicked. Smh.

The real reason is that...

Nigeria had been removed from the list of countries whose citizens were issued visa-on-arrival in Turkey.

Guy, at least consult the Internet first before you start disgracing yourself.
When turkey was world power, Lord Lugar is yet to come to Nigeria. At least start with the ottoman empire.

Turkey is a member of G-20. I'm sure you don't know it. In few yrs time will manufacture its own nukes.

Even Kenya, Tanzania south africa etc are ahead of Nigeria as far as development is concerned. Maybe, if you see some duplexes some places you call that development. Nigeria has nothing, absolutely nothing. And the worst is most of the citizens don't know that.
Thank you Mr educator, I knew about ottoman empire right from my secondary school days, nobody is talking about when Turkey was formed, I am looking at things from the economic angle. Go check the facts well;

A fully functional television station (First monochrome TV broadcast on VHF band) started in Nigeria in 1️959, while Turkey attained the same feat in 1968.

In 1973, 2 naira was exchanged for 1£ (Great Britain Pound) and 1 naira exchanged for 0.5 US dollar. Around 1970 to 1975, Turkish Lira exchanged for 11.3 to 14.4 against 1 US dollar.

My point is simple, Nigeria was once a giant in terms of economy, had it been we were able to sustain the rapid development we started with, coupled with the mineral resources God endowed us with, Turkey will surely be a visa-free country for Nigerians. I don't blame any country for any action taken against Nigeria, we caused it.
Re: Why Nigeria Falconets Slept On The Floor At Istanbul Airport - NFF by Halo22: 8:48am On Aug 25, 2022
It's unfortunate that our falconets would suffer this humiliation in a country like Turkey, that pleaded with some of us then to come develop their country. Of course I was offered study and work visa in Turkey, but I rejected it cos there was no hope of the country making headway then. Now see the condition APC led govt has placed us in and the useless defensive complain is that Turkey no longer grant us visa on arrival. Tufiakwa!

If you know about ottoman empire, then every other thing you said is bunkum after the admission.

When committed nations gather, Nigeria will join too cheesy
I love my country but let's call a spade one when we see that.

Shoodboi:
Story for the gods. Have female US footballers ever slept at an airport? Have female German footballers ever slept at an airport? Have female Turkish footballers ever slept at an airport? All these excuses are just rants. We Africans and blacks keep clamoring for respect on the world stage, yet we all do our best to ridicule ourselves. No one can respect you more than yourself.

But today, what do we have: soldiers and police shooting at protesters, politicians stealing money like there's no tomorrow, footballers sleeping at airports? The people looking to disrespect us are seeing all this. And they will never treat us better than our own governments treat us -- though they will often deceive us to think they're treating us better.

And this is not a Nigerian thing, it is an African thing. This madness happens everywhere on the continent. I'm sure the little respect we Africans get is from the blacks in the US (the descendants of slaves and many early migrants there). If it wasn't for that, I'm sure no one would hide the fact that we are the doormat of other skin colors.

Honestly this is very shameful and heart breaking.
The African man is always a very big ridicule and laughing stock.

Everything has been spoiled. No respect for the ordinary citizens.

A team went to represent a nation and now have to sleep in an airport.

Nigerians don't even understand the gravity of what this entails.
It shows that there is no value for basic human lives by this country.

All these transit Visa nonsense is bunkum. What stopped ministry of foreign affairs getting there Turkish counterpart for the team to be offered transit Visa.

It's horrible. It's pathetic.
Those in authorities don't give a damn about the ordinary citizens as long as they steal money to there fill.

When will the salvation of the African man come.
Although some African countries value there citizens not like Nigeria.
Example Ghana at least have great value for there citizens

And where was Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Dubai etc all those years Nigeria was so called giant

Look at where those countries are today

You are just giving very lame but excuse

Nigeria is like a child that refused to never grow up while his mates were toiling and working hard

Now coming up with I used to, which is total bunkum

The disrespect is just starting because Nigeria have still refused to grow up yet. Still giving lame excuses that I used to, while other nations are rapidly progressing and Bettering the lives of there citizens.
