IboHausaYoruba: Lecturers that will spend half of their periods telling students their life stories. It is only few of them that actually teach! Yet, they're the ones clamouring for salary increment every now and then. Most of the professor's cannot even see clearly, and they also want salary increment. 1 Like 1 Share |

fergie001: I guess you are one of those old professors that can't see clearly again. Sir Fergie, I mentioned how government had increased their salary by 30-60k Implemented UTAS, and there has been some type of revisitation going on at federal universities |

sultan003: Just look at your stupid logic. So let's assume you are in charge of building a house for me. And then you decide to stop coming to work in 2020 And then you come back in 2022 to resume the work from where you stopped And then you insist that I must pay you for the work you didnt do in 2021 simply because you are resuming from where you stopped. What type of nonsense reasoning is that? And yet you want the whole world to call you an intellectual? No work no pay, abeg! |

Godoverevery: They are not the only civil servant in the country. They are not even the only civil servant in the educational sector. Yet, they feel on top of the government.. They can declare strike whenever they are tired of working, and resume with salaries for months not worked for. |

princeade86: It's only a foolish student, or a student into cyber fraud, prostitution, etc that will claim to be enjoying this strike No parents is happy seeing their ward lagging behind. The world is a competitive place to be, and ASUU- the union are keeping future leaders at home. They are some people who still beleive in education being the best legacy! Some students are frustrated, while some are on the bridge of loosing their sanity or all hope in education. The self centered union are not showing any form of empathy! And we all know they plan on compensating the students by kick-starting exams ASAP |

princeade86: No sane student, I repeat NO SANE STUDENT is ever going to protest on behalf of ASUU ever again. ASUU have proven to be selfish, self centered and they have shown that they lack empathy for their students. Constantly holding student's as ransom while expecting pay is selfish. |

Oblivion34: garfield1: My dear Oblivion, I am not an old Professor. Sometimes, ask questions especially on issues that are a bit unclear to you. What you failed to mention is that salaries of the GAs and ALs were reduced to accommodate that of Professors and Readers, so you think that is fair, just and alright? Who told you the FG has implemented UTAS? NITDA affirmed that UTAS bettered IPPIS, so where did you hear that they assented to UTAS (in writing). is it supposed to be a gentleman's agreement or be done in writing like IPPIS was done? What do you mean some type of visitation? What type of visitation? Be specific about it. The FG can even negotiate with the salary aspect, it is not the only demand! This is the fact as of today: ‘’They met with the president, he set up a committee headed by the Chief of Staff that should resolve this quickly, the world saw it in the press, they did nothing. The president set up the Munzali committee, we met them finish, nothing, they didn’t come back. They set up the Nimi Briggs committee, it’s now more than three months, two months we finished negotiating with them, they didn’t come back. ‘’The president directed the Ministry of Education to finish within two weeks, two weeks has passed, they didn’t come back.’’ Now, listen to the Chairperson, Committee of VCs in Nigeria; "This issue of saying we don’t have money to put into the university system shouldn’t be. It is like the Needs Assessment fund; it was not given to ASUU, it was given to the universities. “When they say we don’t have funds, what they are saying is that ‘these universities are our own but we don’t have money to give. We don’t have money to pay for overhead to run the universities.’ I listened to Keyamo also. He is not even at the centre of the whole thing.” Now, gently ..... Go through this, just yesterday; https://dailytrust.com/fact-check-has-fg-met-80-of-asuus-demands-as-education-ministry-claimed I will appreciate your reply. |

Re: Paying ASUU 6 Months Arears Will Promote More Strike - Oblivion by Oblivion34: 1:20pm On Sep 02, 2022 |
Missionaire: Let's be realistic here. Lecturers do not really do backlog of works they didn't do during the strike. If the management is kind enough, they'll give two weeks grace for revisions before exams. While some schools just starts exam the following week after Resumption. How is that the same as doing any work? ASUU are not the only civil servant in Nigeria. If they don't want to do the backlog of works not done, they should resign and allow new lecturers takeover from where they stopped! Nigeria has enough qualified professors who are willing to take on their jobs if they resign tomorrow |

GeneralBuhari: They must not even get paid. The government has invited them to several meetings telling them what they can offer. They keep insisting on their own terms while claiming the students should sacrifice their time for the cause. If the students can sacrifice their precious time, they should also be able to sacrifice their precious salary for the cause. |
