ASUU should try and make it one complete year.

They will become the world best striker in that way.

I think government should gove ASUU whatever they want.

Whatever that means.

Why will Government give them what they want, are they the only ones on FG payroll?

We are solidly behind FG.
NO WORK NO PAY.

Exactly!
3 separate committees setup by the same FG negotiated and agreed with the union but when the recommendations got to the presidency,it was thrashed!
If the problem is lack of funds, why not sit with the union and negotiate how much they can pay for now instead of going to the media to bad mouth the union and try to cajole them to return by calling the Vice chancellors to a meeting!

Have you gone to see the dilapidated structure of our federal universities like UNN?
If not for the wealthy alumini that UNILAG has, they would have looked like a glorified secondary school!
Why setup 3 different committees to negotiate and agree with the union only to toss their recommendations to the trashcan as if it were a mere formality?

ASUU strikes has always been around not today. Ask those who went to school in 1995, they will tell you same.

That doesnt take away the fact that a 3rd class graduate who stole anambra state money and deposited it into his daughter pandora account, invested the remain money into beer parlour business and ran it into loss will come a distant fourth in the forth coming election

An unbeliever who has sudden turn the church into a political campaign ground looking for cheap sympathy from christians.

There is enough bucket to cry into next year for the wailing wailers.

Na you headache. Vote for your invalid old fool whose only goal is to answer the name president even if it is just for one hour.

Do you think ASUU have going on strike because of the dilapidated structures in our Universities? Go and check their demands. It is all about their Salaries increment, which they demand 100% pay rise. They are also asking for extension of their retirement age to 70 years.

All their demands are all about their pockets. If Yar Adua and GEJ who were former lecturers before they became President's couldn't grant the wishes of ASUU, who else can do that? ASUU doesn't give a damn about the Students.

Their demands are unrealistic. May God ASUU.

The fact that none of the presidential candidates has failed to intervene to end the ASUU strike shows that they are
selfish political title chasers and not nation builders.

We need a New Nigeria.

They were not really going to school anyway.
Better to keep it closed, than pretend the education system is functional.

My darling cousin graduated from “UNIPORT”, or so she claimed.

When I read one of her posts on our family group chat, SHAME CONSUMED ME!

Very disgraceful.

Thank you ASUU!

Obviously you are not aware of what they are asking for!
The presidency set up 3 different committees ar different times starting from 2021 to negotiate with ASUU.....a 7 point demand was pruned down to the revitalization of the universities which was an agreement that started from 2009 and the UTAS which was what the same platform like IPPIS which the presidency asked the union to create and bring for verification!
The 3 committees at different times came up with a negotiation and agreement from ASUU but when the separate report was brought to the presidency,it was trashed!
The 100% pay rise was a recommendation by the 3 different committees of which the last was the Nimi Briggs led committee and the reason behind the proposed increase was why should a professor be earning 400k and yet a councilor is collecting above 1.5million!
Okay the country is going through hard times in terms of shortage of funds, why cant the presidency call the union and renegotiate with them instead of going to the media to demonize them!

You are wrong sir!
Follow up the timeline of the ASUU strike and you will know the real culprit was the presidency who could not keep to their own side of the bargain!
And once again, you are wrong...GEJ made an agreeement with ASUU in 2009 where the revitalization of funds for the universities was broken down to a billion per year until the PMB administration came and stopped such payment!

Big lie!
Too many liars abound in the camp of APC, and they wonder why the whole nation doesn't want their Tinubu
.oniyeye.

What does ASUU really want?
Only the implementation of agreements it has with the FG. Lobatan.
And here they are :

1.Implementation of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS), a payment system that passed NITDA's integrity test.
2. Funding for revitalisation of tertiary institutions
3. Payment of outstanding Earned Academic Allowances (EAA)
4.Renegotiatiation of the 2009-agreement to review university’s conditions of service, funding, university autonomy and academic freedom.
5.Review of NUC 2004 Act to tackle the proliferation of universities
5. 26 percent budgetary allocation to education sector
6. A stop to salary shortfall and corrupt deductions from their salary and allowances
7.Constitution of visitation panels

They should have settle ASUU strike by now if they are serious.

Not serious.
Since the 2000s, after the far north of Nigeria adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal laws, with subsequent emergence of Boko Haram which says it's fighting for a Nigeria to be governed with sharia criminal laws, Nigeria has been building its generations of citizens to accept that Western Education is Haram. Jihad goes through many forms.

ProvisioDigital:
Following our 2020 comprehensive review of ASUU strikes since Nigeria's independence, we published a 2022 update:

The 2022 ASUU strike is at the moment, the second longest strike in #Nigeria’s history; this has overtaken the 2010-11 strike of 180 days and the 2002-03 strike of 172 days.

By the end of 2022, the number of days lost to the strike will be 320 days, 45-46 days short of a full calendar year and one academic session. In months, the strike will be 6 months, 19 days on September 2; 8 months 18 days by November 1 and 10 months 17 days by December 31.

Gen Z (b 1997 – 2012) is gradually getting close to the Millennials generation (1981 – 1996) as the generation most affected by ASUU strike. The latter lost a total of 1039 days to these strikes. Gen Z has lost 920 days so far.

Source
The one of 2010-2011 didn’t have much impact, because most of the days of that strike was after the session (that’s from sept or October). That’s why GEJ didn’t take immediate action. But immediately it encroached into the session of 2011 he (GEJ) called ASUU for a meeting, that lasted for hours .

You guys are irredeemable. The thread is about ASUU strike. Our young people have lost one academic session and the govt. has not even made any tangible attempt to halt it. Common education minister is feeling too big to meet with ASUU personally, let alone the lifeless president and you didn’t see anything wrong with that. Foolish you is busy insulting Peter Obi. A man that’s higher than your family to the 10th generation . Foolish idiot
