The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday said it is initiating processes for an immediate appeal against the acquittal of former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang and Yusuf Pam.

A Plateau High Court, in Jos, had today, Friday, September 2, 2022 discharged and acquitted Jang and Mr Yusuf Pam of N6.3 billion corruption charges proffered against them by the EFCC.

Jang, a former governor of Plateau and Mr Yusuf Pam, a former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government have been standing trial since May 4, 2018.

The EFCC dragged the duo to court over 17 count charges bothering on diversification and misappropriation state funds.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Christen Dabup who delivered the judgement, said that the court did not find Jang and Pam guilty of any of the charges.

“The court did not find the accused persons guilty of any of the charges and they are hereby discharged and acquitted,” she said.

But the EFCC, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said the attention of the commission had been drawn to the judgement of Justice C.L Dabup of the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, which acquitted Jang and Pam.

“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to the Friday, September 2, 2022 judgment of Justice C.L Dabup of the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, discharging and acquitting a former governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah David Jang and a former cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, OSSG , Yusuf Pam, of the seventeen- count charges bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of Plateau State funds to the tune of N6.3 billion.

“The Commission has initiated processes for an Appeal immediately,” he said

Our judiciary is the most corrupt organ of government...I know the judges must have collected some of jang loot and decided to obsolve him and his gang member pam from facing justice...our political class loot our common till like criminal gangs...but I haven't seen this level of corruption under anyone that claims to be Mr integrity as buharia and his criminal party APC party members...and some urchins i mean agbadorians want APC to continue next year under a very renowned crook whose real age ,state of origin, education and source of wealth is hidden in mystery..a man who became a life emperor of lagos state because he was given the chance to be governor for eight years...APC is a pandemic worse than covid19..the so called developer of a lagos that was developed by British government when they colonized Nigeria and successive heads of states when lagos was the federal capital of the federation... if is about justice and equity as it regards to religion Christians deserve to be president next year not even VP and if is about tribe an igbo man deserve to be president next year and if is about competence and youthfulness PO is ahead of others .. so those who support justice and equity will have it in abundance in their lives but those who hate it because of religion and tribe will never see justice for life

It's really confusing moment, even if they are prosecuted and finally imprisoned albeit the accused may as well be given Presidential pardon subsequently.

EFCC remains the most useless corrupt agency. Always arraigning an accused person without presenting substantial evidence. Their lawyers lack technicalities and only interested for money
