Mr governor, what we as citizens want is for you SW governors to come together and look for how to cut us away from the rest of Nigeria, even if you can't get us Yoruba Nation for now, but at least a regional govt is what we deserve.

No smart investor would want to take the risk of coming to Nigeria with all the negative news from the drug peddlers and baby factory people in the east, to the terrorists and kidnappers in the north.

They won't know that there are still some sane people trapped in the misfortune of one Nigeria with these backward people.

Lovely images

Yes, unlike the shitty reality for most Lagosians.
Do you think he and other looters we call leaders ever learn anything from these exposures, since they can't even provide water in every building and hire enough teachers for every child to be in free primary, vocational and secondary school?

MathsChic:
Some days ago, I was at a secondary school in Surulere (across the bridge from the Island) in Lagos for a friend's event where he is educating secondary students about the perils of peer pressure. I honestly wasn't expecting what I saw as the state of this secondary school.
It left me wondering if this was a school or a dump yard. Why in heaven's name are Nigerian leaders looking the other way while the young ones study in this sorry environment?

The attached pictures are what I saw. This is no secondary school. It's a hopeless shanty. I hope this gets to front page and attracts the necessary attention.

Lagos, the commercial hub of Nigeria, has been ranking as one of the worst places to live in the world for the nine straight years, a BusinessDay analysis shows.

Data from the 2019 Global Liveability Index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the world’s leader in global business intelligence, shows the city has been within the range of 137th-139th position out of a total of 140 cities in the world from year 2011-2019.

Last year, Nigeria overtook India as the country with the largest number of people living in extreme poverty, thereby becoming the world capital of poverty, according to the Brookings Institute. This year, the number has risen to 91.6 million from 87 million in June 2018. Every minute, six Nigerians enter the group of extremely poor people, according to the World Poverty Clock.

https://businessday.ng/uncategorized/article/lagos-ranks-amongst-worst-cities-to-live-in-for-nine-straight-years/

The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.

At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.

The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.

Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

Model of a looter you mean, just like the rogue Emilokan who made him governor, just as he made the Aso rock disaster Buhari president in 2015, and wants to be rewarded for that success next year?

Will you be kind enough to tell us what your useless Lagos governors model of a looter did with all the trillions IGR, federal allocation and loans in 23 years compared with the below details of just four years

eluquenson:
REVISITING SOME OF THE LATEEF JAKANDE'S GOVERNMENT ACHIEVEMENTS FROM OCTOBER 1979 TO DECEMBER 1983 (FOUR YEARS AND 3 MONTHS) IN LAGOS STATE

WHO SAYS 4 YEARS IN OFFICE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MEANINGFUL ACHIEVEMENTS?

IT'S A FACT THAT 90% OF GOVERNORS IN NIGERIA SINCE 1999 WITH REVENUES AT THEIR DISPOSAL CANNOT BOAST OF A QUARTER OF THESE ACHIEVEMENTS EVEN WITHIN THEIR EIGHT YEARS IN OFFICE.

Greater Lagos without light rail despite billions of dollars into the bottomless pit of corruption by ThiefNuibu and his puppets

SB2020:
Interesting facts about Addis Ababa and Lagos light rail projects.

Addis Ababa / Lagos
Cost == $475Million / $1.2Billion
Length == 34km / 27km
Time to Complete == 4years / 7years (projected)
Year Awarded == 2011 / 2008 (Construction began 2010)
Contractor == China Railway Eng. Corp (CREC) /Chinese Civil Eng. Constr. Coy (CCECC)
Population == 5Million / 20Million

Ethiopia has managed to deliver Sub-Saharan Africa’s first modern light rail project which opened in the capital Addis Ababa on Sunday, and in the process, beat Lagos whose own rail project remains four years behind schedule.

Ethiopia’s rail project was delivered on time, despite its being longer than the Lagos – Badagry rail line currently under construction.

Addis Ababa’s two line 34-kilometre system was built by the China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and cost $475m, 85 percent of which has been covered by China’s Exim bank. The Lagos Light Rail Project or Blue on Badagry Expressway, was to have 13 stations from Okokomaiko to Marina via Iddo for a total of 27 kilometres.

The contract was awarded to the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) at the cost of $1.2 billion in 2008, and was to be delivered in 2011. Survey work took one year between August 2009 and August 2010 while construction began July 2010.

The work is being implemented using the public and private partnership (PPP) model, whereby the state builds the infrastructure and the private sector provides the rolling stock and management. However, the project has not worked out according to the plan.
The 2011 deadline was missed, even though the State government got a loan to fund the project.

TTC in talks to sell old trains to Lagos. Are they safe enough?
AUGUST 10, 2011

Fashola visited Toronto earlier this year to inspect the TTC trains.

The Lagos deal would be the first of its kind for the TTC. Decommissioned cars are usually sold for scrap metal and can fetch up to $1,500 dollar each. While Ross declined to discuss specific figures, he says the sticker price for Lagos is "significantly more" than scrap prices, putting the potential profits to the TTC in the millions of dollars.

It is not unusual for technology from western nations to end up in poorer countries. Marketplaces in Africa and Asia are flooded with North American clothes, computers, and even cars, but the purchase of larger technology like trains is rarer.

The cars will have to be significantly refurbished to fit existing infrastructure in Lagos, and some Nigerian media reports have lamented that the government appears to have settled on "tokundo," or used, trains instead of brand new vehicles.

Although half the cars are more than 30 years old, Ross is adamant they are perfectly safe and are only being decommissioned for capacity reasons. But he also admitted the TTC is not required to make sure the cars meet any safety standards before selling them.

"Once sold, it's up to the new operator to ensure they are in good working order," he said. "They do need to be maintained much more frequently than the new trains, simply because of their age. At some point they will run out their useful life."

Murtaza Haider, director of the Institute of Housing and Mobility at Ryerson University, said the age of the cars is definitely a cause for concern.

"We should be ensuring that there is some service life left in these vehicles and we're not going to be playing havoc with the lives of those who would ride these vehicles," Haider said. "There's metal fatigue, and that metal fatigue could result in dangerous conditions. I would be paying a close watch on this for the next ten years to see how many accidents do happen in Lagos."

He also warned that while rail systems are glamorous as far as transit infrastructure goes, they are not always as effective at reducing congestion as other options. Nevertheless, new rail systems are frequently preferred because governments can take advantage of kickbacks from large contracts.

According to media reports, the cost estimates for the Lagos rail project have varied wildly from $1.2 billion to $30 billion. In 2010, a Nigerian government watchdog accused Fashola's government of widespread corruption.

"More often than not, politicians favour rail transit because it is more expensive," Haider said. "It's almost useless in some cases, and less productive in most cases, than a bus system. But you can't buy busses for $30 billion. You can inflate prices and make a lot of money buying a rail system."

Being the governor of the richest state in Nigeria will definitely be a dream come true for most Nigerians.

However, Tinubu has a strong hold on Lagos that doesn't allow the governors make major decisions without his consent. This is why Babajide's hands are tied.

Now, Tinubu wants to extend that madness to Aso Rock. I don't think the likes of Obasanjo will let him though because Obasanjo knows what he does in Lagos State.

This is what I love about Lagos state leaders and governors, they approach things like sovereign nations, and they know how to showcase and put Lagos on the map.

Afro beats is NEXT on the world stage and the headies did a great thing by staging the headies in Atlanta, it created immense opportunities for our Afrobeats and entertainment stars to network with American stars to explore album features and entertainment opportunities.

The governor also timed his visit excellently to meet and network with government leaders and the entertainment industry in Atlanta.

This is why Lagos is always ahead, their leaders are always very proactive, and they are all blessed with vision, a great sense of duty, and a strong desire to always go the extra mile for their state, Lagos..

God Bless the great state of Lagos

God bless Asiwaju for his vision and leadership capacity and ability to seek and nurture good and talented leaders for Lagos.

THE LAGOS STATE GOVT NEEDS TO LOOK AT ABUJA AND MAKE LAGOS LIKE THAT.

NOBODY WILL NEED ''WOOING'' TO INVEST THERE ONCE THIS IS DONE, BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS THERE IS MONEY IN LAGOS.

SIMPLY COVER ALL THOSE OPEN GUTTERS, BUILD PEDESTRIAN SIDEWALKS ON EVERY STREET, INCLUDING SMALL SIDE STREETS, NOT JUST ON MAJOR ROADS. CREATE MORE PUBLIC PARKS AND GREEN SPACES ETC.

DO THAT, AND THE WORLD WILL RUSH TO INVEST IN LAGOS WITHOUT PROMPTING.

God bless you immensely. I love it when I see Yorubas talking and reasoning as you do. We must never relent on the agitation to take control of our own security and socio-economic destiny.

'One Nigeria' is finished and on life support. The North knows this and the SW does too. Both are making political efforts to gain advantages per what they want.

Whereas virtually all others, bar the SW and North,
are still sleeping on our current reality. You know the SW see ahead because of the agitation below from who are part of the centre and elected under the APC platform.

You know the North have accepted reality too with how they covertly ensured Atiku is running even when we know a Northerner replacing Buhari takes us into uncharted waters at a nation Nigeria is the most divided it has been since the civil war.

Such is the desperation of the North to ward off what they think will be an attempt of the South to reform Nigeria if a southern becomes President.

We should not relent on what is shown below, as minimum demand, whoever becomes President. Be it Tinubu or Atiku because the SW is the only region acting as if she knows that productive lives for an entire nation is about productive systems, that serve everyone and every region best, and not one individual, one region or one people.

Some of you make such incredibly unintelligent comment to the extent one has to wonder how you run your private lives and affairs.

Would Sanwo Olu had become governor today, to be showcasing the talent you are now praising, but for Tinubu?

Would Sanwo Olu be able to work and deliver even 0.2% of what he is doing today without the cooperation of interest groups, unions and power blocs Tinubu has tamed for him?

Why don't you go and ask about life from Soludo, a competent dude and new Governor, already complaining about how governing Anambra is so difficult because of challenges being put in front of him by powerful 'enemies of progress'?

You need to grow up and stop being so naive. Just because you're not mentally and pragmatically evolved enough to see beyond your hatred of the word "godfather" does not mean you should blind yourself to the reality of how every Nigerian State needs a benevolent and strong godfather to make and continue making progress.

He performed creditably considering the meagre state resources & I consider him our best option for a vibrant & transparent leadership. Those using Lagos as basis for comparison are not being fair because Lagos was for decades the Administrative & Commercial capital of Nigeria.

Moreover your candidate Atiku/Tinubu lack leadership credibility. If secret balloting had been implemented in the primaries & bribery/buying of delegates eliminated, non of them would have emerged as winner. The primaries ended up being for the highest bidder with deepest pockets to dish out enough dollars. kiss
