A fact which you have failed to highlight is the continued and deliberate disenfranchisement of Igbos till this day. You are very much correct about the Japanese, but have you checked the role played by the Americans and others in their recovery?
After war there is reconciliation, planned recovery and reintegration. But some Nigerians have used the opportunity to further abuse the Igbo, to further deprive, to further remind them of their looses and wounds through policies, words, actions and many more. In schools today, history of the civil war are either not taught or are taught with contempt. No true and comprehensive story of what happen, what caused it, what has been learnt and how to move forward. But strategies to further cause harm to the Igbos.
Igbos, after the war have travelled to different parts of Nigeria, established businesses, learnt there host's languages and can almost be identified as indigenous. But there are people whose mentality is to conquer and oppress, strategize to suppress, suppress who? The Igbos of course. I have been in the north (Jos and Kaduna), the north central ( Kogi and Abuja),I have seen government interventions in other parts of the country. The one directly affecting me, is the establishment of youth development centers( business and Tech Hubs ) in Nigeria by NITDA ( tech) and other sister agencies, the grants being given and so many opportunities being opened. My brother, the south east who have shown to have industrial and technical prowess among it's teeming youths are the most deprived. I have seen first hand when a grant was denied because our team were made up of 80% of Igbos for a tech pitch. The grantor who happens to be from the north after getting wowed with the whole thing, automatically reneged after getting the tribal configuration of the team. He even cited it as his reason without pretense.
You must have listened to the voice note of the vice presidential aspirant of the APC. That is the true picture of hatred that these people have for this tribe. Some may hide it, others may condescend and pretend, others may be waiting for an opportunity to acted wickedly, but the fact is the fact. Yes, Igbos have this innate thing of not allowing humiliation and being conquered, so they do everything to keep their shoulders high, and in some cases the do it the wrong way.
If you read history, you will know of Igbos who rather drowned than be enslaved. Many who rebelled against their enslaving masters...
