PDP has been the ruling Party in Nigeria since the start of the forth republic in 1999. Its policies generally lie towards the right wing of the political spectrum, meaning it is an elitist party.  It won the Presidential elections of 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2011, and is the dominant party in the Fourth Republic.

In recent years the PDP hegemony over Nigeria Politics have been challenged and broken by the rise of regionalism in Nigeria politics, with ACN to the west and APGA to the east being strongest contenders along side CPC in the north. The most poorly guarded secrets to PDP electoral success, as evident in recent 2011 presidential election dat saw Good Luck Ebele Jonathan emerge victorious is not the PDP party itself, but the personality and their general appeal to the Nigerian masses.

There are very few characters in the Nigerian politics scene with the charisma and prudence, Nigerians far and wide reciprocate. In the PDP party itself only two characters DAVID MARK AND CHIME SULIVAN embody these priced attributes of charisma and prudence.

David Mark (born April 1948) is the President of the Senate of Nigeria[2] and Senator for the Benue South constituency of Benue State.[3] He is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).[4]

Mark was elected to the position on June 6, 2007.[5] Prior to his senatorial career, Mark was a military governor of Niger State.[3] He is an Idoma[4] Christian.[2]

His name is commonly used in conjunction with Nigerian advance fee fraud emails. He also has the unenviable reputation of claiming that telephone was not meant for ordinary people when he was Minister of Communication.[6]

David Mark ran for reelection to the Senate for Benue South on the PDP elections in April 2011 and was elected for a fourth term.[7]

Sullivan Iheanacho Chime was born on 10 April 1959 at Park Lane Hospital, GRA, Enugu, Enugu State. He attended the College of Immaculate Conception (CIC) in Enugu for his secondary education (1971 - 1978). He studied Law at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, graduating in 1980. He then enrolled at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos and graduated on 10 July 1981, when he was called to the bar.[1]

For the next seventeen years he ran a private legal practice in Enugu. He was Secretary of Nigeria Bar Association, Enugu branch (1992 - 1994). Later, he was appointed Special Adviser (Legal Matters) to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani. In 2001, he was appointed Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Enugu State.[1]
[edit] Governor of Enugu State

In April 2007, Sullivan Chime successfully ran for governor of Enugu State on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform. He took office on 29 May, 2007, succeeding Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani.[1] He was reelected on 26 April 2011

Why do u get ur life and not bet ur life? lollz grin grin grin grin The truth is such Statement is highly irresponsible and undemocratic. The corner stone of all democracy is due process and all applicable are given an equal opportunity with the most promising candidate emerging the winner after various levels of consensus.

Nigeria is not a hostage to the Northern Boko Haram cultist/ritualist sect, no matter how hard they fight to make dat the case, they will never prevail. We are a nation that cherish Freedom and have a written constitution as the custodian of all the liberties we are entitled and enjoy.

So 'Mr Know All' as u call urself, u probably hallucinated and mistook Nigeria for Afghanistan. 2015 race is wide open to all Nigerians of implacable character and may the best man win. cool

Amongst the attraction of David Mark to the Nigerian masses, is his love of discipline dat comes from his military background and time spent in the Army. In the Senate David Mark has supported a number of bills. These include the Anti-corrption bill, Niger-delta bill, Minimum wage bill and the Universal Primary Education bill, while he was Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Mark initiated a strategy in conjunction with other stake holders, which has resulted in an improved image for the Nigerian police , as well as an enhanced pay package. The Police Equipment Fund , which received his blessing, have contributed towards better equipment, arms and vehicles for the Police.

Governor Chime Sulivan as a visionary champion embarked on a project of urban regeneration in Enugu. He has successfully rejuvenated the degenerating state of infrastructure in the state. At a glance, Enugu has a good network of roads, which is currently being expanded and/or rehabilitated and maintained by the new civilian Government. The road network comprises Federal roads which connect Enugu to other States of the country, and State roads which connect the various Local Government Headquarters in the State.

ROFLMAO!! Well, if u feel dat u have something to offer Nigerians, u should start your campaign in earnest. grin grin grin It is cynical to castigate a man that has devoted his life to service for country as a comedian. The bills outlined above are just a hand-full of bills amongst thousands that the honorable Senate President has supported in the interest of our country Nigeria. cool

lollz People would argue the same about Russian President Vladimir Putin or Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi but legislators like Senator David Mark don't need anybody to sell dem, the appeal is clear for all to see and is broad based. Charisma, Prudence and Big Personalities are price virtue for Nigerians and Senator David Mark has does in abundance, besides he is more action than words, which is exactly wat we need in this country.  cool

In a speech Senate President David Mark has outlined his commitment to good governance and upholding the principles and rights enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.

According to him, “I have neither gold nor silver to give you but I will honestly serve you with the best of my ability to make our society a better place. I will be honest and truthful. I will be committed to the ideals of nationhood.

“Above all, I will serve with the fear of God and I will be guided by the principles of fairness, justice, equity and respect for the rule of law.

“I will be guided by the Constitution, the standing rule of the Senate and work in tandem with the wishes and aspirations of my colleagues so that collectively, we will be able to lay a solid legislative frame work for the government to deliver the dividend of democracy to our people. “

David Mark ? What da heck is special about him. Oh, because he is always composed hitting the gavel. He is now good for the president. Nigerians should still remeber him for the statement that " telephone is not for the poor", when he was a soldier. He doesn't seem visionary one bit. I will prefer Abacha to be resurrected from the grave instead tongue

Senate President David Mark is also one of the de-tribalised legislators we have in the country unlike Mallam Sanusi. His ability to think of Nigeria first irrespective of political, tribal and religious divided has endeared him to Nigerians from all political zones, that canvass support for David Mark,

Amongst his peers in the Nigeria House of Senate David Mark is most respected even after completing a tenure as the Senate President, Senator David Mark was chosen for the plum position and unanimously agreed that the incumbent was the best candidate to continue to pilot the affairs of the red chamber of the National Assembly (the senate)  because of his wealth of experience as a legislator and considering the fact that his last four years brought sanity in the senate as well as positives strides in the democratic development of the country.

This kind of stability and sustainability in my opinion is exactly wat Nigerians find so attractive about Senate President David Mark.

If Dimeji Bank-ole had not lost at the polls, he would have been gladly re-elected as the speaker of the house, no biggie about Mark been re-elected as Senate President.

I know the types of David Mark, IMO he is not a visionary leader, no radicalness that Nigeria needs, just lip service, at best a mediocre. No more room for ex military men.

He is a visionary to have been elected twice to the plum position of senate president unanimously. If u wanted radicalism as oppose to sustainability den Buhari would have been your ideal candidate.

Senate President David Mark is a sworn democrat and in his own world in the Senate cautioned that the era of resort to impeachment of members of the executive arm of government or removal of principal officers of the legislature is over as such move neither helped to promote or sustain democracy in the land.

"The legislature especially the national assembly has moved from the era of impeachment of principal officers or threat to remove the executive and concentrate on legislation that will ultimately provide democratic dividends to all Nigerians", Senator Mark stated.the legislature is the hallmark of democracy and should therefore be jealously guarded to sustain democracy.

With regards to economy management, Senate President David Mark sent a strong message to the new ministers to brace up to the challenge of total transformation in all sectors of our economy in order to salvage the nation from the brinks. He emphasized in a press statement by Paul Mumeh, chief press secretary to the senate president that Nigeria is no longer a toddler whose first faltering steps must of a necessity be tolerated in life saying " we have come of age and we must hit the ground running". Nigeria is in a hurry to develop and therefore requires men and women of good conscience, competent, capable hands and patriots committed to the ideals of nationhood".

This believe is reminiscent of the deep seated desire to make a change that have been the driving force all through Senate President David Mark life of service dedicated to his beloved Country, Nigeria.
