@ David, I can't believe that u r advocating a man be a stay home dad. This is the aspect of feminine rights movement I don't understand. God, give us men that are ready to be men and not an emasculated wuss. When something is wrong, come out and say it is wrong not arguing the opposite just to win an argument.

I have zero respect for "stay at home dads", i think they are only a step away from dead-beat dads. However i used my postdoc colleague as an example of how a couple can come to an amicable agreement on how to take care of their kids and the home-front while the other partner gets to live his/her dream. Her husband was a stay at home dad because they wanted to avoid paying $400 a month on daycare for their child while she gained her postdoc experience. Now they've moved to Canada and both husband and wife are back to working their dream jobs. It was a temporary solution that worked great in their favor.

In essence, this is my point - men are the traditional providers for the family and to refuse to do so is a cardinal sin. However women too have a duty to their families. It isnt about sitting down and expecting to be serviced for life.

OP is seriously deluded.

If you want your wife to RESPECT you as a man, finish schhol, graduate, get a job and then get married. To make sure you don't feel cheated, also find a wife that has finished school and has a job --- that way you don't feel cheated.

But to say that you want a wife while completing school and you can't even take care of yourself is just plain evil. Whichever woman you marry, won't respect you. Its too early on in the marriage to take a partner thru such economic hardship. She'd be better single.

The argument that women are the weaker sex has been hijacked by many to hide their indolence. They are putting that statement to bad use. The weakness here only refers to her physical abilities in comparison to the man. By her own right she is very capable and indeed ranks much higher psychically than the man, i.e. spiritually she has more abilities/responsibilities. A real woman should be able to hold her own with or without any man –and I think they are more attractive when they do.

I have strived a lot in life.I have acquired my bachelor degree in philosophy and on the way to acquiring LL.B degree.I have tasted life and see that it is all illusion.
My family especially my mother have been depriving themselves of a daily three square meal in order for me to achieve my vision in life.After all this,should i take into my life a lady who contributed nothing to my future glory (by God's Grace)?Most women are indolent and want a ready-made man but not for me.Some guys in this thread who have been attacking my ideas should know that women that we take into our lives as a wife do not deserve all these benefits they are reaping.
Some guys abandoned their family and cling to their wives,garnishing them(wives) with wealth that come from the combination of efforts made by their family and themselves(guys).Is that right?
Should wives not even for a short while be given the responsibility of man?Should we continue to tolerate the lackadaissical attitude of most women?Should we not rise in a protest and require of women a service that would tantamount to the suffering we encountered while we are in the making?Please Think!!!

My husband insists on paying for some things and even if I can afford it and have already paid for it in his absence,  he always returns the money ASAP and I respect him for that. Half the time the money is recycled again and I end up spending it  on the household,  however he has done the right thing and that is to provide the things that he should provide as the man of the house.

BTW can I borrow Mr CC just for a week. I promise to return him in one piece without jazz.

Maybe the OP created this thread for other reasons but the only ladies who should feel bashed are those who have taken a wrong stance as regards women and work.

@ Goddy, to tell you the candid truth, it is better you start working and have saved some, before you think of getting married, it is a woman you will put in the house not a man, if some women have spoken, it is better you take some of the things they have said into consideration, a woman can definitely take care of the family but not forever, only if she is a single mum, God has done it that way, for the men' to be the sole provider of the home, not the other way round. A woman can and should compliment her husbands' provisions,

And all your comments about your parents contributing to where you are now, that is their responsibilities. you and your wife will be responsible for other lives (your children). your parents will not raise your own children up for you. The earlier you understand how marraige works, the best for you.

You are not serious. You already have a first degree and your family are starving themselves paying for a second first degree for you?  The people I know who have pursued a second first degree worked and studied at the same time. So you have been depending on your family all this time?

It sounds like you are looking for a woman to bail your family out, not a wife.  No responsible man should be spending his family's money like this, regardless of his vision.  Unless you're explaining yourself very badly, it seems like you are looking for a wife as a family/mummy replacement.  No woman's daughter should be subjected to that, no matter how hard working she is.

TO BE HONEST MY FATHER WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO MARRY A MAN WHO DOESN'T HAVE A GOOD JOB. HE WILL BE A BIG EMBARASSMENT TO MY FAMILY.
