This is deeper than inferiority complex. Africans that voluntarily japa to sell their organs, would not sell their talents at any price? In this case stolen skills from developing countries. There are no slave ships forcing Africans in. It costs a life savings to buy a ticket. Nigerians go for the highest bidder, no matter where their skill or labor is needed. I keep on saying it, do not train doctors by other countries' standards. Our medical needs are primarily infectious and parasitic diseases that can be treated by more Community Health Officers. These japa doctors know more about exotic foreign diseases than African diseases. Do not blame doctors alone, most Nigerians want to earn British or U.S money without investing at home. The first million or less a Nigerian makes is to buy ticket asking for where he can invest outside Africa. Looters steal billions to take out. Do not forget, Nigerians rejected cassava bread that can be source at home for wheat bread sourced outside home. The same is true of most things, even when Europeans and Americans pay more for organic foods we mostly grow at home. You were born African, you want to be white, eh. You will pay through your nose. High tech slavery, no be small. 3 Likes 1 Share |

This massive japa move is akin to modern slavery. It’s now a case of choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea.. The only people who are paid their worth are mostly tech guys 2 Likes |

Munamoqel:that's true though but surprisingly he didn't lament about that compared to how he would read the book of lamentations ontop rent of 120k here. He has a steady job but I think the advantage he has is that his child is still back here in naija so the stress isn't as much as them been with him over there. |

kunkelhanspeter:my brother, do they even work 8 hours here? They always feels life js better abroad. To be candid, the Oyibo work more than those hours, there is level you will get and your hours of work will reduce. Why doctors are scarce is because it is very expensive to train a doctor over there. 2 Likes 1 Share |

UjuJoan2: Medical doctors in Nigeria are suffering. What those recruiters are doing is slave labour. It's because they are afraid of being sent back to Nigeria that's why they are afraid to speak up |

They think it's Nigeria where they behave like gods killing people with negligence and skipping office? Now they can experience how it is in sane climes. You work and be civil with patients. |

Why are they now complaining? Did not they say Buhari is bad and Nigeria is a failure? Now they're in a country where the PM and monarch aren't failures and they're complaining about working odd hours. Tssk. |

But do they get shot by stray police bullets? Do they have power supply? Do they have access to actual hospitals that can treat them? Will they be asleep in their homes and an anti-graft agency will knock down their doors for no reason? Will they be kidnapped while trying to visit loved ones by road? Will they queue for hours on end trying to buy a by-product of the only commodity their country has? Will their children be home for 6 months while universities go on strike? I can go on for days, but I think you should get the point now. No one is going somewhere just for a better job or because they like to study. They are leaving Nigeria in search of PEACE OF MIND, an environment NOT actively fighting them and A FUTURE. Maybe when your kids have an international competition online and they are struggling with mtn, airtel, and glo 150kbps after turning on a generator and still not being able to participate, you'd understand. The reasons people are leaving are worth millions. Modified: Case in point https://www.nairaland.com/7376479/bandits-kill-freed-abuja-kaduna-train Sakamaje: |

To be blunt, I see no issue here. I am sure the Doctors in question did not read their contract? jakpa this, jakpa that. You tell Nigerians that things are not rosy abroad and automatically, you are tagged enemy of progress. Again, I see no issue here. NEXT! |

Africa is the nursery of the world. In cycles, the west transplants human saplings (the youngest, strongest, most energetic, most motivated) from Africa to replace their aging forests. |

He doesn’t have to remain employed there or in the UK at all. He has every right to end his appointment with the said private hospital. When the NHIS determines from its investigation that the condition of service contravenes UK laws, the hospital will be sanctioned. Then he can sue for claims or damages. There is a process for everything in this life |
