The Lagos state government says it will be investigating the unprofessional conduct of the nurses at a hospital in the state where reality TV star, Patrick Fakoya, aka Rico Swavey, was rushed to shortly after he was involved in a motor accident that claimed his life.

A 30-second video showing some nurses at a hospital in Lagos State filming and being lackadaisical with their duties while Rico was in a critical condition has sparked outrage on social media. In the clip, Rico Swavey seen on a chair. While one of the nurses called for help to put him on a stretcher, the others were laid back even as one of them chuckled as he was filming.

One of the nurses was heard cautioning her colleague against the act.

“You people should stop making the video; somebody is dying, you people are making video,” the nurse said

Those nurses laughing there ass off while Rico Swavey was lying unconscious should be jailed for life

They are animals in human form

There licenses should be withdrawn immediately and never be allowed to continue with there job ever again in this country

I was angry and almost moved to tears after watching that video

This is a pure case of culpable homicide. Justice should be DONE!

This is the case of Nigerian hospitals especially general hospitals around this country.

General hospitals are the worst,the nurses and doctors there behave like they are gods.


They don't care whether you are in pains or unconscious, or dying.

Nigeria health system needs total overhauling.

How many more Ricos needs to die b4 human lives will be valued in this nation.

They should be penalized and licenses revoked if that should serve as a warning to others that do not understand the obligation of their revered profession.

FMOH should be the one leading, but it seems they don't even know their duty.

Many (if not most) have died due to lackadaisical attitudes of our health workers. This need to stop.

For starters, there should be CCTV in all emergency section of all hospitals to aid investigations that might arise from complaints from families of "murdered" patients. And any hospital without a functioning CCTV should be sanctioned

This is not an isolated case. It's very rampant in almost every hospital in Nigeria.
Not just hospitals,.., in banks, Police stations, motor parks, utility providers etc.. it's an institutional problem. Some sort of cultural mess! This type of "fire service" approach by the Lagos State government seldom solves the problem. Politicians are just grandstanding. It's for the media. Nigerians lack good work ethics and you won't notice this until you travel outside the country and get treated elsewhere.

There is a need to have a more vigorous legislative approach to solving this problem. The system shouldn't operate on the belief that everyone knows the right thing to do. There should be constitutional consequences for breaches like this. Folks who attend to patients and customers in different institutions should be held responsible for their actions and should be liable to criminal prosecutions if they knowingly fail. It's when you create a purnishment for the crime that you deter would be offenders.

anyone who grew up with a nurse as a parent will tell you this new generation of nurses is lazy, sloppy and borderline incompetent. particularly the younger ones. this occurs across private and public hospitals.

What will then be the aftermath of that........ Na today

It's worse in government hospitals. They would just openly ignore you and start gossipping. Useless lots.
