Good morning my fellow nairalanders, pls i have been a member here for so long and this is my first post.
I'm actually contemplating going into poultry as a source of extra income considering the current harsh economy.
Though i must say i'm a lover livestocks.

So I need advice on how to go about it and i'm looking at old layers for egg production and broiler for meat.

Note: I have a space in my compound.

Dear Poster, It all depends on you, your resources and what you want to achieve on a long term.


My own advice:

If you are looking towards broiler production, consider that you need access to constant market. because once you are done rearing broilers, if you dont sell, the more it eats, the money you put in.

If you looking towards layers production, be ready to feed them for almost 6months before it starts laying.

Both requires money on a regular but PERSONALLY, i prefer Layers, then i will do broilers seasonally
