Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has threatened to resign if anyone can come forward to prove that he promised him or her the governorship seat and didn’t honour his words.

The governor made this comment on Monday evening at a dinner/reception held in his honor to commemorate the “Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery” that President Muhammadu Buhari had given him. Wike emphasized that he never made anyone promises to guarantee them winning the governorship seat, saying that God alone has all authority.
He said, “I told my people it is God that gives power. There is never any day I sat with anybody. I challenge whoever would say I sat with him, and I promised him he would be the Governor of Rivers.

“If anybody can come out and challenge me, I will resign as Governor of Rivers State.

“You want to become Governor? Is there anybody who dashed me governor? I worked, I fought for it. You, go and fight.”
