Their presence suggests a thriving business environment and investor confidence.

Nobody puts up a skyscraper where there are no prospects.

If you want to see sky buildings go to the Island. Like someone explained earlier Alausa is within the proximity of airport. That should be common sense enough!

There are fewer skyscrapers in Europe than anywhere in the developed world, going by your logic, Europe is less developed than anywhere else in the industrial world.

Hong Kong alone has more sky scrappers than the whole of Europe .... Hong Kong has over 520 while Europe has around 230.....

So is Hong Kong better than Europe?

I watched a documentary on this once, it's so sad that people comment ignorantly with pride these days.

You want make person go end up inside the Lift, suffocate and die? Because Nepa go just take light whenever the lift is working and the diesel power generator will not start because one Oga don embezzle the money meant for the diesel.

Useless giant of Africa.

I saw this a UEL docklands campus every time. Don't say stuff you have no idea about, skyscrapers around London City Airport are less than 2km away and you are saying 20km radius. Oga calm down and learn.

Bros I have used London City Airport many times and the plane makes a sharp ascent over water and then a sharp bank to the left to avoid the city. From this aerial picture you can see there are no skyscrapers near it. Apart from safey considerations, a jet travelling over glass lined skyscrapers would rattle the structure and be extremely uncomfortable for the occupiers. I doubt the building owners would ever make a return on their investment.

Although Lagos needs to build up to maximise her limited space considering the huge population, building up requires a certain level of infrastructure and wealth to be available. For instance, electricity should be constant. Hong Kong is not powered by generators neither is Dubai. Those lifts need to work 24/7 regardless of weather conditions, except, say earthquakes. On the other hand, those who utilise the services or patronise the businesses located in skyscrapers have to be well-to-do or, better still a strong and vibrant middle class. It is the reason skyscrapers exist in VI/Ikoyi, not Ikeja.

So, for Lagos to have more skyscrapers constructed, Nigeria should have at least 10% GDP growth rates consistently for a decade. Accompanying this growth should be massive investments in electrification and transport infrastructures. The vast majority of Nigerians are too poor for investors to construct skyscrapers.

The Ikeja Central Business District in Alausa is not zoned for skyscrapers as you call it. There is a proximity concern to the airport. The further you go from the airport, the taller the buildings get.

Skyscrapers do have challenges in a society like Nigeria. How do you CONSTANTLY provide power for the elevators 24/7 with the electricity issue we have in Nigeria? Or you want to climb stairs to 20th floor minimum of twice a day?
It cost so much to even build, and the tenants (Lagos State Ministries) are not rent paying tenants, which means there is no commercial viability to spend that much on the buildings.
Let's not talk about other issues.
Skyscrapers are also not a measure of "growth" or "development" or "wealth" in a State is it?

What are you basing the shame for non-availability of skyscrapers in that single photo, taken in Alausa?

That's why the eko Atlantic city Tinubu created turned out to be a failed project. 15 years after,, the city is still empty. With the falling naira, no one is willing to invest a hundred million dollars to build a skyscraper in the city.
