But I didn't lie.

Your father at best had an NCE and at least 3 wives.

Your mom was the 2nd wife who quickly moved out of the house when wife number 3 showed up.

Your mom remarried but to an even worse husband.

Quickly, you gained acceptance on the streets, after all, that's all you know.

You started yahoo and brought your first car which you sold 7 months after when maga no pay again.

3 years later, you hit again but night club and olosho no let you see road.

You and your 3 friends moved to a home in Ajah and always turn up and convince yourself about the deals Magbo and his boys pull.

You are at least 38 now and you've never had a career.

In 12 years, you would be 50.

Your life don finish.

He was sentenced by a Federal judge to a Federal Prison though.

"A Nigerian fraudster accused of using the proceeds of his crimes to fund a lavish lifestyle he flaunted on social media was sentenced to more than 11 years in a U.S. federal prison for his role in a series of international online scams"

Speaking from someone who knows the USA justice system well..

USA has MOSTLY federal and state prisons.. There are some other county jails, etc for petty offense..

when FBI tries you, its a federal crime.. he got sentenced to FEDERAL PRISON.. There is no parole.. The best you can get is good behavior which knocks off around 10-15%.. He will serve at least 9 years..

if he got tried by a state instead (example NY state Attorney general, etc), then he could easily get paroled as some states can parole you after half time served, etc, even the governor of the state can grant you pardon on a state crime.

Also based on the 10+ years sentence hes going to at least a MEDIUM security prison which is tough.

But any crime that deals with victims from multiple states/countries like Hush puppi did is ALWAYS going to be a federal crime..

You people dont know what its like to be locked up and become a common prisoner.. Wake up when told to wake up, eat when told to eat, sleep when told to eat, shower when told to shower.. Food is garbage.. You get visitation maybe once a month for an hour or two, and your visitors will be stripped and searched before seeing you.. There is no browsing online, you share a common TV room with all other inmates.. BOREDOM KILLS YOU COMPLETELY.. Imagine this, go into your room, put a toilet in the room, now SIT THERE ALL DAY EVERYDAY without your cell phone and laptop and internet.. How long can you last??

Anyone in a usa prison will trade being homeless on the streets any day for prison life..

11 Years is not a Joke.. His life is gone.

It's finally official from the US Department of Justice Website... Abass [Hushpuppi] should use his time in Federal prison to REFLECT and come out a better person for the good of all. There are legit businesses that he and his cohorts could have done and not scamming folks and companies of their hard-earned money.

The other foolish international online fraudster called Obinwanne Okeke [aka Invictus Obi] and his gang of about 70, was busted when the FBI was able to trace some of the things he posted here on Nairaland and nailed him in the U.S. He was sentenced in 2021 to 10 years on charges of computer and wire fraud.

P.S. 1stGenAmerican, pull over... "What it do?!"

So, as an attorney, what's your final take on the sentencings here? You must be a bit sad that some youths wasted their potential talents on fraud... OR you have a blase attitude towards these criminals?

Nice question, friend. I despise this type of criminal more than just about every other. A thief is the lowest of the low and a bread seller is due more respect. Federal prison will not be a cakewalk for him, especially since most of the people he knows are in Nigeria. Who is going to visit him and put money on his books? No one. I don’t think Hushpuppi had as much potential as Obi however he could’ve lived a good life as a hard worker. Invictus Obi had more potential because he was bright but chose to use his brains to be a thief. Wasted potential.
I see that some believe he’ll still have money when he is released but forensic accounting says otherwise. The amount of restitution ordered will have him living as a pauper for the rest of his days.

No it isn’t. Federal sentences in the US aren’t like state sentences, they are day for day. He must serve AT LEAST 85% of his sentence, no less and since he has a large amount of restitution to pay and no means of paying it, he will be serving his entire sentence minus only the time he has already served.
