Holland becomes first European nation to withdraw sanctions against Russia without EU permission

Acting in the best interests of its own people, Holland has officially withdrawn sanctions against Russia despite no approval or permission from the European Union (EU).

The first country in Europe to do so, Holland started out by issuing 91 waivers from sanctions against Russia following the initial invasion. These waivers covered specific items that the country needs such as aluminum and food.

Now, the country has decided that many more sanctions must go because there is simply no good reason to continue with them since they are only harming Europe while doing next to nothing to “punish” Russia.

At the time when the Dutch government first started issuing sanction exemptions, ministers would not reveal the names of the companies involved, citing “company-sensitive” information. (Related: As many as 11,200 farms across The Netherlands at risk of being shuttered by government “green” mandates.)

A spokesperson from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economic Affairs, Finance, Infrastructure, and Education confirmed that the exemptions were granted to “allow a degree of flexibility in specific cases.”[b][/b]

No doubt sanctions affect both parties. After all, it's business, and when there's no business, vendors and clients suffer. Vendors typically look for other clients, while clients typically look for other vendors. The power of sanction is only attained when there's a solidarity on one side. That is, either a group of clients collectively agreeing to reject one vendor or a group of vendors collectively agreeing to reject one client such that this rejected party cannot easily find alternatives. Though this comes with sacrifices, the more parties in the solidarity and the more they're able to satisfy each other's needs, the more powerful the sanction is.

Russia was sanctioned by thier major business partners, but they still have some other partners to keep them going even if it's painstakingly. The West is also having a hard time satisfying one another. These two facts weakens the sanctions, and it became a game of waiting to see who yields first.

Some media even refer to it as Dutch. Wikipedia uses both Holland and Netherlands to describe same country. May be you are more learned than Wikipedia.
