This should be the poorest opening match of a world cup ever, by a country mile. FIFA should never make this kind of mistake again or risk damaging it's brand.

If it has to give the hosting rights to a severely lower ranked, handicapped country it should schedule their opening match to the second or third day of play.

Many neutral fans already angered by the odd tournament schedule will really be pissed.

Many folks only have the weekend to watch live matches and will want better so this poor team should have been scheduled for 8 am tomorrow morning when most folks are at work and care less.

Senegal v Holland should have been a better weekend treat.

My definition of a footballing nation is one with a deeper history and pedigree than that. The fact that they have not made any serious progress since then as opposed to their exploits in say rugby or cricket is telling.
