Deep hatred and needles arrogance will not allow the igbos to reach out to other regions of the country hence robb the country hope of getting it right politically this time around.

If they continue with their foolhardiness, Tinubu won't need to rig 2023 election to become the president.

it Igbo that is contesting election or peter obi, Ovi have been reaching out to all Nigerians so what else ldo you want, governor uzodinma and soludo are only playing the normal party politics that doesn't translate to Igbo opinion, you all should be aware that obi is contesting under a party that have nothing on ground, but now have become the most talked about party since obi joined

So, he might be talking with some hidden ulterior motives

Peter Obi should just be declared winner already. Honestly, I don't see the need for an election in 2023.

The saving grace of the SE is just that the masses no longer look up to the politicians. They are basically planning to vote Obi because he is someone u can trust not to embezzle funds. The regular politicians from the SE are self-serving & don't care about the people.

The people of the South East have been told not to blame anyone if the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi fail to win the poll sinply because they fail to accord him the deserved support.

Spokesman of the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, who stated this yesterday, dismissed any suggestion that the north has adopted a candidate for the presidential poll slated for February, 2023.

This is as he challenged the elite not to sit and watch politicians control the country as they like but to stand up and give direction.

“We got our fingers burnt in 2015 and that is why we are being careful this time. We are saying that the best candidate should be allowed to win the election.”

According to him, “all the elites in Nigeria are in hostages and captives of politicians but we must remove ourselves from that bondage. So, we will reach out to elite from the other regions and together we will welcome any presidential candidate who says he has solution to Nigeria’s problems. We worry about the South East. We don’t know whether they are in support of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party or not. The nation can see what is happening now and if the South East fails to line up behind Obi, they should not blame anybody.

“If the Igbo believe it is time for them, they should support Obi, reach out to other Nigerians and tell them they are supporting Obi not because he is an Igbo man but because he is the best. We will give our support to the best man who can heal the wounds in the land because actually, everybody in Nigeria is marginalised right now,” he said.

He urged the South-Easterners to ensure that all politicians are allowed to campaign freely in that zone. He also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the environment is safe and secure for everybody to campaign.

“Nigeria has a future but we must work very hard to secure it. Let the best candidate win and let us accept whoever that wins so that we can begin the process of rebuilding Nigeria.

However, responding to Baba-Ahmed comment that the South East should try to lobby and convince people from the other zone to support them produce the country’s president, leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, said the case for the South East is not about begging.

“Some southerners must have been brainwashed to believe that only the north can make anybody president of Nigeria but I don’t believe that. The South West has produced the president, the South-South has produced and the north is completing eight years by next year. So, it must come back to the south and when that happens, justice, equity and fairness demand that it should go to the South East Igbo. So, to live together must be on agreeable terms. You can’t deny a prodigal son his right because he is prodigal.

The Yoruba don’t believe in dishonesty, that is why I am supporting Peter Obi. How can we be together when a significant unit is being cheated?”

Simon Reef Musa, who represented the president of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Dr. Pogu Bitrus, equally stated that for justice, equity and fairness, the MBF is queuing behind the candidate of LP, Obi.

“We believe in justice and equity. We believe that it is fair for power to shift to the south after eight years in the north. So, many Nigerians believe in Obi. I am happy it is not the Igbo that are projecting him but the whole Nigerians. Democracy has been commercialised and our challenge is to wrest power from them,” he said.

Most Nigerians seem to wear the dislike of Ndigbo on their silly sleeves. Whatever crap accredited to one Hakeem Baba-Ahmed is a form of stupidity. It is foolhardy to baptize the statement from one goofy Igbo person as a collective communique of the Igbo people in general and southeast in particular. There are few persons from southwest who have publicly disagreed with Tinubu yet nobody had accused Yoruba of a seemingly sabotage of Tinuba chances in 2023 Nigerian polls.

I would think its a terrible mistake to intimidate Soludo. He is entitled to his opinions. Lets not be doing all this to divergent views and positions.

That's why democracy is different. You can't have everyone onboard supporting a candidate. People are free to pick sides and support anybody of there choice. They are also allowed to voice there opposition to policies and candidates.

Soludo is free to air his opinion and support any candidate regardless. He did not commit a crime for doing that.

It's worth noting that other none Igbo people similarly oppose there own to pick Obi and support . Nobody harasses them like that. They are entitled to express there God given right and freedom to speak in support of the political process.

People should learn to accept and respect peoples free opinions. Free that man abeg. It's not by force to like a candidate. You win some you lose some across board.

Most Nigerians have screwed stream of thought. It is funny somebody remotely insinuated Soludo is entitled to his opinion and those who care to reply to his trash are not entitled to their opinion. What a hole.

Who and who did IGBOS hate?

If they marginalized you they way they did to Igbos, you and all your people will turn to Bandits over night.

Just only that they denied Abiola the presidency in 1993, come and see how the Yorubas were throwing bombs up and down in LAGOS.

I wonder what they would have been doing if they were given 5 states like the Igbos.

If Buhari was from other part of the south like South South or south south, come and see how they will be raising their voices like lizard but now they have lost all their voices because they want power by all means.

May God in heaven reward them with their own coin for always supporting evil in Nigeria.

Lamido Sanusi was right after all.

Everyone in South East cannot support Peter Obi, besides you supported Obasanjo even when the South west refused to support him. So throw your support to the man with integrity, competence & Character Peter Obi & stop giving unnecessary excuses.
The South East since independence have been supporting other regions for President without looking for faults here & there.
The man might be taking a clue from what Soludo said. Many regions are prepared to vote for PO, but SE is where we think problem may exude. The man is indirectly saying we will support Him, but his people might not do the same. So, if He loses, their fault and not ours.

I am Omoluabi and I am aligning with Pa. Adebanjo, you cannot continue to deny the Igbo their pride of place and expect them to be happy with the same system. There is a need to find a balance to ensure all regions of the country are inculcated into the system and not use one region as slave or menstruation pad.
For now, Mr. Obi is a moderate Igbo and not only that he has the capacity, capability and competence, there is need for us as a country to rally round him. As he always says, if someone tells you he will fight corruption, check his past. How do they manage the resources entrusted with them? Do they kleptomaniacally enrich themselves. Till date some of them are still enriching themselves with state patrimony out of the little resources available while the citizens wallowing in abject poverty.
For now Peter Obi is the answer and the good people of Yoruba land will overwhelmingly vote for him and not play tribalism with Nigeria destiny.
God bless you my Yoruba friend.I didnt know that there is still honest and sincere Yoruba here in Nairaland................I am that Igbo Jew

You people are trying to sabotage obi, and create room for who to blame

That's not true. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed is truly concerned. From his rhetorics and body language, one can easily decipher that he truly want Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed to win.

Anybody or group that truly want Obi to win will be concerned about the actions and utterances of our so-called politicians. Imagine the likes of Soludo, Nnamani, Umahi, Uzodinma, Ihedioha etc. all attacking Peter Obi and trying to sabotage him. It's a situation to worry about because winner of 2023 elections might use just 100,000 votes to emerge. So, if these selfish and idiotic SE governors sabotage Obi and he ends up getting less than 70% of votes in our region and Atiku or Tinubu is able to pull off significant votes from here, don't you think it would be a disastrous situation?

He can't win without south east's support. The way d north is stylishly rallying around atiku so should the south east rally around obi.
