Which suffering?
People who do not know what to vote, who to vote for and how democracy works for their benefit will always suffer.
Living a decent life requires a minimum level of intelligence.
Suffering on the other hand cleanses the soul.

Building functional refineries won't lead to a reduction in the price.

The refineries have to be maintained, the loans taken to build the refineries have to be paid, and the refineries have to be upgraded.

All that adds up.

then you don't know what subsidy is all about.. if you don't know forex add up to the cost of fuel in Nigeria then they need to check and your scrutinize your certificates that is if you go to school

Before subsidy is totally removed, it is important we have relatively stable power supply and the government should invest in state-owned commercial solar buses to reduce the sufferings of ordinary Nigerians.
Apt. Thanks for this. At least if we are seeing light and generators doesn't consume fuel than motors then they can remove the subsidy. The major reason why things are very expensive in Nigeria is due to poor power supply and it's even causing unemployment.

An oil producing country without functional refineries, what a shame.

Thanks to Aliko Dangote, his Lagos refinery will soon come on stream
Exactly but do u foresee fuel selling below #400 per litre when his refinery becomes active and subsidy removed

I'm afraid I do.....it is the difference between the production cost of fuel and the pump price set by government.

Normally, the pump price should be higher than the production cost of fuel, like any business , but under subsidy regimen, the cost is lower.

The money that the government pays to cover the resulting loss is the subsidy.

if you don't know forex add up to the cost of fuel in Nigeria then they need to check and your scrutinize your certificates that is if you go to school

It does, but that's part of the picture...the main issue is subsidy is too expensive to maintain long term.

Because of subsides, the petrol sector cannot make enough profits to make refining fuel sustainable here...hence our reliance on imports.

Thanks. and good morning. If you don't get it, I really cannot help you.

But goodluck Jonathan promise to sell at 140 naira without subsidy and we stop him with protest, what makes it now 400 naira without?

140 in goodluck time is 450 in today's buhari time.
It's not like the naira was not depreciating all that time

For consumers, removing consumption subsidies immediately raises the price of energy. And when energy prices increase, the cost of many other goods and services also goes up. Opposition to such inflation is evident by the waves of
protest and public unrest in response to an increase in electricity prices in Morocco in 2015 and gasoline price hikes in Mexico in 2017. Knowing this, politicians are unlikely to push for reform since people’s dissatisfaction will
negatively impact their chances of reelection.

Remove the subsidy completely then let's revalue our currency simple. The devaluation of our currency has not favoured us. Devaluation is meant for countries with beforehand powerful production base not dead production like Nigeria. Please it is not a crime to make a mistake but a crime to reject correction.

Have you seen the custom duty on solar panels? The government is wicked and doesn't care about her citizens. If they really want to solve power issues, the best thing to subsidize is solar panels. The more people leaves the grid, the more power we have. Leave fuel and subsidize renewable energy. No, they don't want because they benefit directly from the scam and corruption. Buhari met unstable power and he is leaving without doing anything about it So, what exactly did he come to aso rock to do? Let us vote Obi and watch him for 1yr please, if he fails too, tear the useless country.

Unfortunately, it won't solve the problem if what Nigerians want is CHEAP FUEL.

Cheap fuel means the fuel subsidy must continue. If the fuel subsidy continues, the economy will continue to stagnate.

The choice is clear.
