I read some posts here by fellow nairalanders that the title was conferred on him by his own university.

"It needs to be mentioned that Prof.D.K OLUKOYA was severally offered the position in the 1990s by MANY UNIVERSITIES, but he chose to pursue his ministerial destiny, as directed by God"

The above means that GO rejected this title offered to him by many universities in the 1990s.
