How? Do you realize this is anti people policy, because you want to chase a rat you put fire in the whole house? Mark it down this will only cause more Anarchy. Because each state has one central bank each.
How do you expect everyone in a state to go to one bank and return their 1000 and 500 notes. No insults Let's just reason together.
You had 3 good months to deposit your old notes in the bank.

They were never on the side of the masses for the past 8 years. Suddenly a currency swap turned them to overnight patriots because their looted monies stashed outside the banks are being threatened. This present leadership of the Supreme Court have gone down to ignominy.

Stop deceiving yourself

Only a few new notes were printed .. The problem is we don’t read ..

The CBN said it’s going cashless … and reducing the cash in circulation ..

You can’t go cashless and still print the same amount of money that left circulation ..

It’s a communication problem that corrupt politicians capitalized on.

According to the president , over 2.7 trillion old notes were retrieved .. I dare you, not up to 500 billion of the new notes have been printed.

This is still tricky, buhari is tricky, as it stands now buhari can't say only 200 naira is a legal tender till April 10 because this matter is already in court, the court has final say on this, if you say only 200 naira , what of the masses that probably has 1k and 500, it doesn't make sense, it won't work at all.

What is the "upper cut" here and how are you benefitting from it?

We are talking about the welfare of nigerians and how nigerians have been suffering and you talking of Tinubu. How will this "upper cut" improve the welfare of nigerians and reduce the suffering on the street?

. If Buhari was serious about vote buying why did he not introduce this new naira notes policy when he wanted to contest for president for his 2nd tenure for the 2019 election... during 2015 and 2019 election in which Buhari won they was vote buying in which Buhari used it to win election.... Buhar and apc was buying vote in 2019 election

I thought he said the old 500 and 1000 naira notes will still be redeemable at CBN and other designated points till April 10th,and more old 200 naira notes will be released back into the economy.

The redemption at CBN is not till April 10th. That one is indefinite. The 200 notes to be released are old ones and that will last until April 10th

So Buhari just confirmed this.

The old #200 notes will remain legal tender, along with all the denominations of the new notes, until April 10. So the cash crunch affecting ordinary people will be eased.

But the old #1000 and #500 notes will no longer be legal tenders which implies that they will no longer be accepted by anyone altho they can still be redeemed at the central bank after filling some documents.

Like i said yesterday, Buhari obviously has intelligence that the billions of old notes that some politicians kept for vote buying are in the #1000 and #500 denominations. It can no longer be used for vote buying again and they would even need to explain when they try to exchange it at the CBN.

This new decision is a master class. The APC Govs can no longer complain cos the "excuse" of the suffering of the people has been taken care of whilst preventing vote buying using the old naira notes

It's a real masterstroke by Buhari.

Did you listen to Buhari's speech at all? Most of the old notes outside the banking system has been returned to the banks according to Buhari. The corrupt politicians already returned most of their loots. The ones suffering now are ordinary Nigerians.

I just hope your hatred for Tinubu does not harm your heart permanently.

God bless you! I don't know why Nigerians are this stupid and gullible. I laugh when they say this policy will stop vote buying. Do they think someone like Tinubu or state governors cannot get millions of new naira notes if they want to? Some of these politicians control the banks, some have bank managers as their boys and at their beck and call. This policy will only impoverish the masses even more and encourage more vote buying

Technically speaking, 500 and 1000 naira is still remains legal tender till April 10 as long as provision is made to deposit it at the CBN. grin

The only thing is, if you deposit it at the CBN, it will not go out again into circulation. grin

I actually did but regretted doing so because I suffered. I had to collect the same old notes with high charges from the POS because the new notes is not available. and after buying and selling with the old notes again. This is the what average Nigerian go through because of this policy.
