A renowned Professor of Economics and former CBN Governor who is occupying the office once occupied by Mr Obi for 8 years of mediocre leadership in Anambra under him, Economist Soludo, has passed a verdict on Mr Obi; he regards Mr Obi as a colossal failure in 8 years reign of Mr Obi as Anambra state Governor.

None of the current or past Governors of Anambra endorsed him and none of them can vouch for him.

Any Economist hyping Mr Obi is like the discredited ANAP 'poll' and should not be taken with seriousness.

The current Governor of Anambra state, Prof Soludo, a Professor of Economics and former Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) Governor, already gave the scorecard of Mr Obi. Soludo said publicly that Anambra state investment that Mr Obi made in the capital market is today worth next to nothing.
The renowned Economist, Prof Soludo stated that Anambra state under Mr Obi took the first position in Nigeria in the democratization of poverty!

Tinubu’s legacy investments are still standing today and yielding huge returns to Lagos state government. He was one of the first state governors to ever use the capital market for raising state bonds, Lagos made huge ROI on its shares in Airtel, Asiwaju initiated the vision that today birthed Lekki Deep Seaport(only deep seaport in Nigeria and largest in West Africa) and Lagos state majority-owned companies like LASACO Plc are doing well in the capital market.

All these manipulation of facts to rewrite history in order to hype Mr Obi will end in 5 days time.when Mr Obi would have been defeated at the polls in a free, fair, transparent and credible election.

The good thing is that his defeat will teach other current and past mediocre governors a lesson: If you do not want to be paying PR guys money to hype you, work very hard in office so that your work will speak for you.
Nigerians will open your record for posterity when you are mediocre in office then come later to contest. No media hype will pull wool over people’s eyes.Serve well. He is wasting his money on sponsored post.smh

Serve excellently like Tinubu served Lagos as Governor for 8 years. Mr Obi and Alhaji Atiku were mediocre in office for 8 years.

If you read Peter Obi's manifesto you will know that it is far more practicable than those of Tinubu andi Atiku.

Tinubu and Atiku are just making big and bogus promises in their manifestos that anybody can digest are not feasible in the current Nigeria.

Peter Obi focuses on reducing costs of govt and rejigging our manufacturing with agrarian revolution. He also talks more about Nigeria exporting more to the international markets.
Lol that is one of the most stupid manifesto I have ever seen! 80 percent thrash.

Therefore Tinubu who says he wants to continue from where Buhari stopped should not be allowed to succeed President Buhari.

In every indices of development Obi ticked all good.

Millennium Development Goal by the UN was a marker for development and it started as far back when your Asiwaju was Governor. After many years, only Obi attained all and was certified by UN as the first governor in Nigeria to attain the set out goals.

If not introducing the Agbero system into Anambra by Obi makes him a Medicore, then it's fine by me. Because that's the only achievement of Asiwaju.

What your Asiwaju couldn't do in 8 years, happened in 3 years under Sanwo Olu without noise or claiming to own Lagos.

Your Asiwaju was and will also remain a subpar governor.

Have a good Sunday!!

Before I leave, if you successfully mention one company/factory your Asiwaju attracted nor built in his 8 years in office and created jobs for thousands of Lagosians i will send you breakfast money.

Oga sir, you are being led by the nose sir. Mr Obi is a well respected Nigerian and I have never called him unsavoury names because I respect and appreciate him for stepping forward for leadership. That is where it ends.

When it comes to digging deep on his public service record, it is completely ungodly to attempt to compare or elevate Mr Obi over his former Boss, HE Atiku let alone bring him near Asiwaju Tinubu. Even HE Fashola and Ambode will trump Mr Obi in terms of public service records.

I just want to beg you to stop rewarding with your support those who were mediocre in public service. 3 years from now, Mr Ifeanyi Okowa too will start gunning for Presidency and when he pays the Economist , a foreign newspaper, to do PR and sponsored post for him, you will tell me that they know more. I am tempted not to dignify you with too much reply because as you know, with a stroke of my comment all the rubbish you wrote to hype Tinubu I will crumble it with facts but for the sake of the unsuspecting Nigerians that are here reading all comments, let me just put few words here.
If we are talking of leadership achievements, Tinubu did less to nothing tangible for the good people of Lagos state if we are to equate it with what accrued to the state. The performance of Fashola was the one that brought turnaround to Lagos state. I was in Lagos all through the time of Tinubu reign and no body can tell me the exploit of Tinubu that I don't know. Is it baba jeun soke, ko tun jeun sapo style of politics he was doing that time? How he was busy fighting for his political career at the expense of governance. He is the only governor in the history of Nigeria that changed deputy twice. Meaning he used three deputies within 8 years. Can such man be called a democrat. Far from it.
Also, we all know how Lagos was a sanctuary for thugs and touts during his tenure. We all know how one chance drivers flooded Lagos. I knew how my new phone was hijacked in Oshodi in 2005 while walking through Oshodi to Mushin. How in the same year my younger brother entered one chance bike and another of my own brother on molue. These were recurring happenings during his time. The Oshodi and Ojuelegba bridge were filled with thugs where daily hijacking of people belongings became a trade during his tenure. If Fashola is the one contesting with Tinubu today, Tinubu will have nothing to campaign with because he will be told the truth to mention what he did and not what Fashola did.
I want to challenge you. Can you mention just one bridge that Tinubu constructed in his 8 years reign in Lagos?
Tinubu was lucky to have governed a state that his potentially rich and that gave him the little achievements he had but cannot be compare in any way with the achievements of Fashola, it is far apart.
What even baffles me most is that during his tenure nobody mention his name as part of performing governors then. Please can you show me any award he received during his tenure that is traceable to performance? But Fashola had many. The names we heard are Makarfi, Odili, Duke. Tinubu wasn't in the pack of those governors doing any exploit then but today you guys are trying so hard to pull wool over our faces. What an irony.
You know I want to proof to you that he was lucky to have governed Lagos. Show me any of his stooge that had performed excellently outside Lagos.
What was the performance of Aregbesola in Osun?
What was the performance of Oyetola same Osun?
What is the performance of Dapo in Ogun?
What was the performance of Amosun in Ogun?
What was the performance of Fashola in Ministry of Power? Remember he was the one that said, generation and distribution of electricity is not a rocket science but for over 3 years, our nation was turned to darkness. You remember he was even nicknamed "Mr. Darkness".
I want to borrow you this brain, if you like take it or leave it. Tinubu and his administrative idea is based on plenty of money. Without plenty money they cannot survive and records have shown it out Lagos that his stooges have worked.
What of Tunde Fowler that was his tax collector? If you can remember how he was employed to man FIRS but at last what happened? He was sacked. I can still remember that he was even given query for not meeting up with target. If you think I am lying, just Google search Tunde Fowler query from President and your eyes will clear.
We need managers of meager resources for the food of the citizens.
Handing Lagos into the hands of Tinubu is a great injustice to natural justice and a slap to vibrant brains all over Nigeria. Nigeria is not a colony like Nigeria. Its configuration requires a brainy Nigerian and energetic person.
I advise you to start campaigning for a better Nigeria than taking Nigeria into ditch with Tinubu. Atiku, Obi, Kwankwoso, Kola and Sowore have managed successful businesses as private citizens, not the one that is only known in politics.

Mr Soludo's expose on him is enough to enlighten you on how mediocre Mr Obi was as a Governor.
Good morning.
Yes Asiwaju was a better governor compare to obi, but that was when Asiwaju was young and healthy, not his sickly and old self right now. Nigeria need someone who can govern and make sure all his policies are implented fully. Take buhari as case study, if he was capable and healthy would a stupid cabal from somewhere hijack his government? The answer is No.
Track records are good for judgement and everything, but the vision and energy obi has right now is what Nigeria need, not a old and unhealthy man.

My counsel to serving Governors, serve well.

A very good question. The Economist article is behind a paywall and the author didn't sign his or her name to it. The snippet we read in the op may be contained in the original piece but doesn't match up with what I was able to cull up to copy for NL readers.
I welcome any NLer and/or Labour Party subscriber to share the entire article with the NL grownups to read and study their total viewpoint. Let's see how many astute ppl we have. BTW I haven't had an subscription to The Economist or The Financial Times in over two decades so I can't help the readers with the actual full text of the editorial.

Leaders | A chance for change
Nigeria desperately needs a new kind of leadership
Peter Obi offers the best hope of it

Feb 16th 2023

Share
Nigeria has been cursed with bad rulers. A military regime gave way to democracy in 1999, but since then elections have offered voters an ugly selection of the ancient, the incompetent and, most recently, a former military dictator. Parties have stoked ethnic divisions, intimidated their opponents and bought votes. Many candidates—federal, state and local—seek power to grab a share of the country’s oil wealth. Successive governments have been deeply corrupt. Turnout has steadily fallen. But as Nigerians go to the polls on February 25th, Peter Obi, a third-party presidential candidate, offers a measure of hope.

Africa’s most populous country is in desperate need of it. The economy, the continent’s biggest, bursts with youthful potential—half the country is 18 years old or younger. A flourishing Nigeria would boost the whole of Africa. Instead it is dragging it down. Nigerians are poorer now than they were in 2015, when the outgoing president, Muhammadu Buhari, took over. At least 60m (and rising) survive on less than the equivalent of $2.15 per day. Mr Buhari’s protectionist policies have made things worse.

Like I stated above, it is an insult to compare Mr Obi's record to his that of his Boss, HE Atiku; let alone compare to Asiwaju.

I will love you to read the account of the public record of Mr Obi here https://m.facebook.com/1397373060506316/posts/peter-obi-a-disaster-waiting-to-happen-by-omogbolahan-babsnigeria-like-many-othe/3226189214291349/?locale=ne_NP&_rdr

No amount of sponsored posts in newspapers will change his posterity record of mediocre and uncaring public service. He never knew that one day, he will stand before Anambrarians and other Nigerians to solicit for votes and Nigerians will open his mediocre record.
The Economist ko, the Babalawoist ni. Very corrupt news platform attempting to pull wool over the eyes of the uninformed. They saw his horrible record but were paid to hide it.
So you are relying on this propaganda by Babawale to make your point. What does he know about Anambra. It is only Anambra people and people living in the state that can tell you wheather Obi did well or not.As far as I am concerned Obi did excellently well as a Governor of Anambra.

To

What is the interest of “The Economist” in Nigeria?
They’re only interested in where they can pillage and siphon Nigeria’s resources to develop foreign lands, feed their country’s citizens and promote their country’s industrialisation. These people never harbour good intentions for African countries….
their motive is nothing but neo-colonialism. Bloody slave-traders! cool cool

This endorsement means Nigeria is in bigger trouble if he wins. Those crying water tears now would shed blood because he’ll end up selling Nigeria.

Good thing is that he won’t.

When these same western media outlets were disparaging GEJ and recommending Buhari, you lots were in orgasmic raptures, now they give an opinion and you call them all sorts of insulting names, even going as far as saying their endorsement can be bought...

The most important verdict to be passed on a leader is not that by his political opponents, but that passed by the generality of the people he governed. Anambra people always speak of Obi with nostalgia and you can just do a random sampling among them and see for yourself.

There is a reason why almost all fingers in this election point to Peter Obi; There is an existential problem facing Nigeria right now and, every right thinking citizen would rather choose a person of competence to help find a way out.

It is not out of place though to find people who don't mind choosing a goat to solve human problems for them. After all, there is a reason the country descended to this level of poverty and rot. Those reasons include choosing the wrong people for the right positions. Those who promote that are still here and we see their ugly hands once again.

They will fall and would never rise again.
