Simon Ekpa might be a liar. But Wikipedia is not a credible source of information. Some universities advise students to avoid sourcing information from Wikipedia.

Even though articles on Wikipedia can be written or edited by anyone, you can't just write things in without evidence, all your information has to be sourced from somewhere or they will be removed by the admins.
That's pretty reliable to me.

Better still, instead of using wikipedia as source, you can simply use use the source that wikipedia cited as source..
