The opinion of a united states ambassador to any country carries a lot of weight.
This is a very good op-ed which asides guiding the US approach to the elections, would also make other western nations to keep an open mind about the elections and not conclude outrightly that Tinubu has won freely and fairly.
But most importantly, which is what I feel this ambassador's piece was meant to serve,it would make the Nigerian courts, particularly the supreme court,to carefully consider the merits of the opposition cases and not succumb to bribes that would be thrown at them,or deliver any judgement that doesn't make sense,as they have often done with a lot of high profile election cases, because they would know, the US with it's enormous powers and influence, can make the rest of their lives unpleasant,by the kinds of actions it may take, even if it accepts their nonsensical judgement.
The presidential election may indeed not be over and Tinubu maybe a president on shaky and suspicious grounds!

Hypocrites. It is only fools that will believe that US cares about Nigeria election.Trump lied that the last election in US was rigged and even incited a Jan 6 insurrection yet nothing changed.US is not in any position to interfere with our politics.Tinubu shall be sworn in as President of Nigeria. Those who can't take it should bury their heads in the sand!!

Thank you jare. They'd have wanted nothing better than a puppet they can use. I cannot just wrap my head around how a monumental failure at state level can be trusted with handling federal affairs if not some scheme by the west using social media to brainwash the many halfwits that can never identify as true patriots.

If someone cannot judge two or three presidential candidates by track record, then the person should probably donate his/her brain to medical school for intending brain surgeons

See your flawed thinking. Us don't export corn to Africa. They consume the bulk of their produce. They import corn products from Ukraine who is also the major supplier to Africa. We are self sufficient in corn production.
As for puppet, don't you think escobat who is quarter to vegetable will be a better choice to them? The original puppet master already congratulated him. UK controls your 'tuff' Buhari.
Return the stolen mandate. Kawaii

Why hasn't Russia and China congratulated Baba agbado? Are they also part of the "west"? Even countries like Germany, Canada, NOBODY has congratulated this fraud except the UK who are the chief architect of Nigeria's failure.

The whole world knows that what happened in Nigeria last week was NOT an election and the truth is beginning to come out. Presidents even get dragged by their own people for congratulating Thiefnubuu, yet you think he will keep that seat. Don't worry, he will soon return that certificate of return 🤣🤣🤣

See your reasoning level. Pls is Nigeria Chinese or Russia anex or territory? Pls to what important is Russia or China congratulatory message to Nigeria and you?

With all your education so unless Russia say yea and China say yea then the winner is a true winner ba? Pls go back to school.

Your fucking Russia, is putin a democratic president in real term? A man who shouldn't have go beyond 2 term in office but refused to go since Yeltsin brought him pls how many years it is now?

To hell with Putin congratulatory message.

Go Bacton school ok.

Failed to meet some Nigerians expectations.

Some Nigerians expected Peter obi to win. He did not. Therefore the election did not meet their expectations

The elections featured losses in strongholds, the elections featured different candidates from different parties being voted for state vs hoa

Finally when a diplomat says yes he means maybe, when he says maybe he means no, and when he says no - he is not a diplomat.

I keep saying, this is the obidients first rodeo and they are still unwilling to move out of the alternate reality they have created for themselves.

From 2007 up, each election has been an improvement over the previous one. This election is no different. The youth are not the only voting bloc in Nigeria. Neither are the east. You will have to learn how alliances work or you can continue in this vein. Buhari was equally popular and celebrated and he went at it solo 3 times and failed.

Those who fail to learn from history will continue to repeat it.

One fact I know is Tinubu will not be President of Nigeria.
The new Nigeria is not one with a fraudulent electoral mandate.
He is wasting his time. Heavy shame is all over him. The walls around him are shattered.
Tinubu has more hope for prison than being president.

Agbado is being roundly rejected but his urchins will tell you otherwise. The US has rejected him. No wonder Biden and other important world leaders are yet to send congratulatory messages, they know that INEC colluded with the old KLEPTOMANIAC and declared him winner against the wishes of the people. The plan was to first declare Ojuyobo as the winner, then ask other people to go to court. That was why the INEC chairman vehemently refused to stop collating results
despite the failure of the IRev and all the damning evidences presented to him at the collation center!

The whole world knows that what happened in Nigeria was "Cash and carry" elections that handed over a certificate to a predetermined candidate, in complete negation of the will of the masses.

I think INEC and the ruling class underestimated the resolve of young Nigerians to have a workable country, presided over by a transparent president who is ready to solve problems, and answer questions.

Peter Obi is the choice of the masses, and the whole people of Nigeria voted for him massively, forget about the altered results that will be upturned in court.

People are intimidated to follow Tinubu, not because they like to follow him.
This is how Mr Tinubu has built his career throughout his life

I wonder what INEC chairman is still doing on that seat. The man failed us woefully, can't the hypocrite just resign?
Is it too much to ask for or to do?
And by the way, what is the REC in Lagos and Rivers still doing? They should be sacked ASAP.

A stolen mandate should be returned. Peter Obi won fair and square.
We don't trust the supreme court and its shenanigans.
