The opinion of a united states ambassador to any country carries a lot of weight. This is a very good op-ed which asides guiding the US approach to the elections, would also make other western nations to keep an open mind about the elections and not conclude outrightly that Tinubu has won freely and fairly. But most importantly, which is what I feel this ambassador's piece was meant to serve,it would make the Nigerian courts, particularly the supreme court,to carefully consider the merits of the opposition cases and not succumb to bribes that would be thrown at them,or deliver any judgement that doesn't make sense,as they have often done with a lot of high profile election cases, because they would know, the US with it's enormous powers and influence, can make the rest of their lives unpleasant,by the kinds of actions it may take, even if it accepts their nonsensical judgement. The presidential election may indeed not be over and Tinubu maybe a president on shaky and suspicious grounds! |

Hypocrites. It is only fools that will believe that US cares about Nigeria election.Trump lied that the last election in US was rigged and even incited a Jan 6 insurrection yet nothing changed.US is not in any position to interfere with our politics.Tinubu shall be sworn in as President of Nigeria. Those who can't take it should bury their heads in the sand!! |

Draslo:See your flawed thinking. Us don't export corn to Africa. They consume the bulk of their produce. They import corn products from Ukraine who is also the major supplier to Africa. We are self sufficient in corn production. As for puppet, don't you think escobat who is quarter to vegetable will be a better choice to them? The original puppet master already congratulated him. UK controls your 'tuff' Buhari. Return the stolen mandate. Kawaii |

Failed to meet some Nigerians expectations. Some Nigerians expected Peter obi to win. He did not. Therefore the election did not meet their expectations The elections featured losses in strongholds, the elections featured different candidates from different parties being voted for state vs hoa Finally when a diplomat says yes he means maybe, when he says maybe he means no, and when he says no - he is not a diplomat. I keep saying, this is the obidients first rodeo and they are still unwilling to move out of the alternate reality they have created for themselves. From 2007 up, each election has been an improvement over the previous one. This election is no different. The youth are not the only voting bloc in Nigeria. Neither are the east. You will have to learn how alliances work or you can continue in this vein. Buhari was equally popular and celebrated and he went at it solo 3 times and failed. Those who fail to learn from history will continue to repeat it. |

I wonder what INEC chairman is still doing on that seat. The man failed us woefully, can't the hypocrite just resign? Is it too much to ask for or to do? And by the way, what is the REC in Lagos and Rivers still doing? They should be sacked ASAP. A stolen mandate should be returned. Peter Obi won fair and square. We don't trust the supreme court and its shenanigans. |
