Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria, was not present to vote at his polling unit in Ward 11, Olusomi compound, Totoro area of Abeokuta-North local government area of Ogun State during the governorship and state house of assembly elections held on a Saturday.


This marked the first time that Obasanjo, who was Nigeria's first elected president after the country's return to democracy in 1999, did not participate in an election since then. He had previously served as Nigeria's military president as well.


Obasanjo had declared his support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and had voted in the presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 25, 2023.


However, he was not available to vote in the recent elections as he had traveled out of the country 10 days before the election...
