The recent decision by Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Nigeria, to send 19 orphaned youths to study medicine and surgery in Egypt has been met with widespread praise and commendation.

The Governor’s decision to fund the entire duration of the scholarship scheme, which is expected to last for five years, to the tune of N250 million, demonstrates his commitment to investing in the education of the state’s most vulnerable citizens.

The beneficiaries of the scholarship were selected from the 27 local government areas of the state, comprising 12 males and seven females.
