Yes, it is a good idea to remove fuel subsidy, because it is the only way we can get..1) Fuel running well 2) get working refineries...3) Enough profitablity to make the oil sector really grow.

The truth is, we should have removed this thing years ago. By now, we would have had working refineries, and would have been a major exporter of refined products to the whole African region and beyond. The problem is, removing it involves high prices for fuel...and by extension everything else.

But keeping the subsidy has meant price controls. And in order to compensate for losses in the sector, we have to pay high amounts of money in the name of subsidy, which rise when production costs of fuel rise. This has contributed to our rising debt, and to us having to take loans to pay for everything else...to the point that it is said that subsidy payments are eating our entire income (which is why all three main candidates and even most minor candidates have talked openly of completely removing subsidy).
