diabetes and kidney disease, what's the connection of this two sickness to this your job?

The context is the brain drain from Nigeria.

It is not only programmers that are leaving. Doctors and nurses are fleeing in droves.

Now that doctors are leaving too, who will treat the sicknesses that are not leaving with them?

Do you understand now?

Na wa ooooo..... It's their culture to give you feedback on your application. If you dey UK for example you Will get several feedback like that

niel63:
Which one be I am not alone.?

We are not alone. The one wey dey pain pass na those ones wey dey even reply you with words like "we find your skill and qualifications quite interesting and fit for the role, however, we are sorry to say we are currently to hiring from your region. However, we'll keep your details. When we have an opening, you'll be on our priority"

Is that one talk cheesy

Chai! Poor guy. This is so touching, but he isn’t alone in this. A HR friend said $3/hr is not bad. Can you imagine $3, Airsay? I had to ask her what she earns currently and the thing shock me. I always thought most HRs are well paid.

I understand starting small, but don’t enter inside ground na. How does he begin to renegotiate this pay now?

Indeed you need a lot of confidence here.

Hi,Poco! Can we connect please? There are some questions i personally want to ask you privately either on a dead thrend or outside here. Thanks

Hello, why not create or take the steps towards creating that community on the programming section?

A lot of people may be interested and they will get drawn to it.

Truth is if you are good, like supremely good at what you do na you go dey run from jobs. One of my guys, a supremely good C++ coder recently left a $15/hr for a $100/hr in January at the same company. Yesterday he got bumped to $200/hr at the same company when he told his manager he's got another offer. No interview or nothing at the current company. Just a new contract with the new offer. Baba don dey plan marriage straight. Annoying thing is that he is based in Ibadan so he is living super large

There is already. I'll share the link.

Not really like a community per se, but has information et about cybersecurity and certifications on how to go about it.

I'm not in the cyber security space so I don't have direct references. But in my vertical, I've found a lot of good communities on Reddit. Maybe you can also be lucky there.

Regarding lower hanging fruits, compare webdev and cyber security. To start developing a website you probably just need notepad. I remember briefly dabbling into cyber security with Kali. You'd need a sufficiently powerful computer to virtualize Kali for example. Let's not talk about needing a capable wifi card to attempt to do Wi-Fi sniffing. I stumbled across Maltego a few days ago and deployed it to get my hands dirty with OSINT. The learning curve is a bit high and returns are not immediate. Contrast that with a webdev were a learner can immediately see whatever web page they have developed
are they even good wifi cards sellers in this country?

Well said. They overestimate not just the economy, but their solution. I say this as someone that knows a few solution driven tech bros. This includes the UK one. He is also onto this fintech stuff and when he talks about it, na too much fancy words. I ask him a question and more fancy words.

He rolled out a service and when I was hyping it for him, a friend asked me, what are they doing differently? He did tell me what they are doing differently and I wonder how they plan no sustain no charges in Nigeria. Right now I am just observing him.

Pls do any one have Mobile development internship link. Kotlin

Yes. I've bought a few in Computer village. You have to know what you want, how to test it and where to look. There's a part of the market that sells used stuff like those. I don't remember the name of that section but I've had very rich pickings from there. And at very good prices

It just need "THE WILL" of a serious government to put it in place.
really! My dear brother IT is not just setting up computers of low processing capacity with epileptic power supply. we still have a shortfall in manpower in the IT world. India stands tall in the IT world.IT is not those criminals in computer village who call themselves IT experts.

And when he's applying, he tells them he's happy to work as an Independent Contractor (called 1099 in Yankee). According to him, once you can remove the worry of tax implications for the company he has found that he gets some success.

Thank you. Very valuable information.

Brother please when you mean 5 million max do you mean the maximum number of people that are using the internet in Nigeria or you mean the maximum number of people into tech in Nigeria.

maximum number of people who are potential users of your tech product. Literacy rate, internet penetration, amount of disposable income are parameters that all determine this number and they are all low for Nigeria at the moment.

I know what you did. But isn't that more an OSINT matter than a Cybersec one? I could throw that identifying info at Maltego and get more info but would that be a security breach?

It would still be a breach. So long as you are not authorised to have it or use, it's a breach.

Now the question will be: was the breach consciously or subconsciously done?

In his case, yes. All the more making it easier for a threat actor to reach him easily.

Next question: why bother carry out an OSINT on him, if you aren't gonna use it? Just my random musings 🤣🤛 unless authorised by an employer (which still remains illegal). Only option is in case of national security.

Ooh, lest I forget: OSINT still falls under cybersecurity.

Maltego (and if you add info from other means) will give you enough info to carry out a social engineering attack. Which from experience is madly effective

Maltego is mad though. Been playing with it mostly for fun and learning and it's crazy the insights you get. Maltego and Michael Bazzel's book and podcast have been my "play things" lately

Cliché still on the non-charges service.
Truth be told, 98% of all these fintechs in Nigeria are all about the same thing, what’s different is just the name and branding. Positive side aspect of it all is that, they can never be enough of them to cater for the growth in the population of those utilizing tech for their daily transactions.

Maltego has got huge learning curve sha. I've just scratched the surface doing online recce on various "targets" and I'm kind of surprised at the findings. Interesting to see how easy it can be to unearth supposedly anonymous folks
