Nigeria is the world's poverty capital, yet you guys are more interested in launching satellites. Please invest Nigeria's scarce money into ventures and projects that will lift people out of poverty.

The next thing we will hear now is that they have parked the satellite. Apparently, Nigeria is the only country in the world where government officials park satellites when it stops working.
Omo launch your own na private company dey launch satellite nowadays, you don't have to always throw shade at every given opportunity.

You still need to go back to school to augment your knowledge so that when you come to a public forum like this you will know how to make meaningful contributions

The first question you should have asked yourself is what happened to the previous satellites. Like NNPC, that agency is just another conduit pipe of the government.

There are things that can never work in this country until it is totally overhauled. The earlier you realize that, the better for you.

You should read carefully..

There was a contract for 3..one has been launched. 2 more to go .

It makes no sense to only own one or two satellites..when you have countries operating 200+ at a go

The same way some of you don't understand why INEC spent 300billion naira and claiming it should have used it to improve lives... shallow minds. BVAS machine for the whole polling unit in Nigeria (let's assume 700,000machines X #20,000per device = 14billion) software customization and installation, hosting and updating, 30billion, I.T company staff payment 20billion (currency exchange), logistics (flights, accomodation in both countries, transportation, licenses, taxes etc) for machine and staff from very first day 35billion,now come to naija logistics within naija will be way more expensive because the organization will need to overpay it's staff for transport service to avoid stories that would disturb the credibility of the process. transportation cost in naija alone go reach 50billion, not to forget they were also operating during the fuel crisis and cashless crisis, staff payment (regular) and ad-hoc 80billion or more, housing/logding/feeding 50billion. The pre and post process will cost nothing less than 280billion with miscellaneous and failed/repeated tasks.

In this same way, you know next to nothing about launching satellites, ordinary companies have thousands of satellites which is why you are enjoying their service (they now rely on cloud service as against website traffic alone) Talk of SpaceX alone not even the whole Tesla company (launched around 30,000 satellites and Amazon is planning to do almost the same). We are even talking about the big guys like Google, NASA etc Big Tech companies etc. Now naija wanted to launch 2 satellites, just 2 and there is uproar already that they should use the money for something else, later you will be crying that data is expensive, Nigeria is backward, Food is expensive, Security is wack, No job etc...I bet you don't know importance of having satellites. Satellites are your best bet for accurate and reliable data transfer and capturing. Nigeria a should have launched tens of thousands satellites Boko Haram and kidnappers would have been long gone several years back with strategic and precise multiple hits with less casualty to civilian hostages, instead of wasting soldiers lives on land combat with less sophisticated arsenal. Logistics companies would have made for prices cheaper as they would know who are where foods needs to be supplied to withdraw excess and avoid wastages like the developed countries do, Jobs for everyone, Ease of government services and more credibility as government would not need to rely on person to person information. True statistics and lots more are the benefits of having/launching satellites
Your analysis is useless, if the money spent on the useless BVAS machines was effective, none would complain. People complain because despite the huge amount spent, yet the idiot electoral body couldn't conduct simple credible election, so the money spent is total waste of tax payer's money period,

If they spend millions of dollars to build infrastructure at LASU for this...the same Nigerians will claim..we can't see what they spent money on and it's just another way to siphon funds...at least you can see and eat the BREAD. If you think you can do better...go and lead something.

Yes, two satellites. Nigeria currently has a communication satellite, NigComSat-1R, and an Earth observation satellite, NigeriaSat-2, used primarily for resource management and mapping of the Nigerian territory as well as providing imagery for disaster monitoring

The satellite were built by 26 Nigerian engineers and the 100kg satellite was assembled alongside SSTL engineers, and within three days the Nigerian-built satellite NigeriaSat-X acquired its first satellite after the successful launch

Re: Nigeria To Launch Two More Satellites Into Space Soon – Defence Agency by Horus(m): 3:03am On Apr 01, 2023
NigeriaSat-X is the product of Nigeria's training and development programme. It is a great credit to NASRDA and their engineers that this satellite is performing well and its operations are progressing so quickly. Nigeria has been operating satellites since 2003. In fact In 2005 NigeriaSat-1 was the first satellite to send back pictures of the east coast of the US following Hurricane Katrina
