Lack of transportation is one of the causes of delays in accessing healthcare. In our environment, we have instances where women in labour fail to present early because of the various levels of delays.

Healthcare is not just about technology. If you bring the best of ambulances here, are there roads on which they'd be driven? Are there roads in the deep terrains? It is rather wasteful to invest in technologies that cannot be used. Even in the cities: we've seen instances where ambulances are delayed because of traffic, and this is often worsened by unreasonable road users who don't know how to make way for emergency service operators.

Let's not be quick to attack the government all the time. Everything is not about politics. I'm a strong critique of our government, but I apply reasoning and honest judgment in doing this. These ambulances will help improve level 2 delay in maternal care (delay in accessing maternal care).

I hope the government of the day prioritizes improving our roads.

But we are good at commissioning but not good at maintenance. Checkout the state of these vehicles in 2years time. Some will even be illegally converted to private use or sold off to cronies.
