Hypocrite, why dey no act the stupid masquerade, wey dey flog everybody for their shithole. These masquerades are worse than eyo, they will beg you for money and still flog you. I am saying this emphatically, all igbo community have these notorious masquerades who threatened people with cain and cutlass. Leave Yoruba culture alone, if you can keep your rotten culture away from the global space, then for you to blackmail eyo festival to make money, you must be insane.

This has nothing to do with politics, it's an effort by some people to preserve their cultural heritage.

Fiction shouldn't be taken so serious though. It's just a movie.

I think you are talking from a place of ignorance. Just check out the reaction in India when filmmakers misappropriates stories. You will come to see how tame the response in Lagos is

They are looking for the trouble again then now say Igbo and other non indigenes are being put in their place as visitors by their Yoruba hosts.

How this concerns APC or Igbo like OP beggars belief. The film makers have not even done as little as apologise and beg for understanding that they were not out to hurt the sensibilities of the heritage of the indigenes they disrespected.

There is nothing exceptional in asking for film be withdrawn. In the early 90s, there was a Yoruba film titled "Arugbo To Re Mecca" that generated uproar, it was stepped down with wisdom and re-edited . The lead actress is still active till date. Even about same time was KIng Wasiu Ayinde's song that denegrates the Yoruba sub ethnic Ogu people of Badagry but he stepped down the song and reworked it to remove the offensive lyric. K1 has gone on to achieve even greater milestones afterwards.

They are ignorant yet forming woke as if they are the first to act or script film that need to be reworked.

Those in the film and those behind it are now in real trouble. Just remove the offensive part and replace the real names of location used with fictional names then apologise to show your art connect with real people.

Nicely put.

For the indigenes of Lagos Island and Aworis, Eyo has spiritual significance in the Ifa religion and there have been dire metaphysical consequences for those who secretly took pictures of Eyo and they were uncanilly detected and fished out. It is wrong to portray Eyo holding a gun in that movie with intent to engage in robbery!

This is why due diligence is very
important before releasing movies, adverts or books, etc, so as NOT to offend the religious and cultural sensitivities of people worldwide.

Rihana Fenty once got herself into trouble for wearing a Hindu religious image while she was half-naked, and expectedly triggering mass protests from millions of Hindus worldwide.

It's NOT just enough for the
Producer of the movie to indicate that the movie is a work of fiction.
Period.

Why not leave that to history lecturers, imagine if the movie king of boys portrayed actual real life politicians as bad and terror, i am sure by now they would have been remanded in prisons.
That movie derailed as a fictional movie that it should be. It is a documentary and with the necessary actions it will be taken down

The moment I saw this tread, I quickly downloaded this movie to see it. Quite an interesting piece. It's a street war for supremacy and power just like the movie King of Boys. A true replica of what the street looks like in Isale Eko Lagos. Alot has been exposed by this movie. If you know, you know.

That Eyo scene though.

Na Dem Dem.
Carrying out Oro rites on the eve of election already showed that several Obas are controlled by politicians. They even placed ebo(sacrifice) at a polling unit. Ancient tradition used as political tool.
Gang of Lagos producer can change names of several places mentioned in the movie and costumes in place of eyo. We will still get the message. A true depiction of Lagos.
Just as they destroyed during election period, they will destroy anything as long as you are an Agbero, you are above the law.

alaye stop typing rubbish online.. Ashewo to rẹ mecca was on VHS.. Nothing was edited, we all watched it, Ógù people popularly know has Ègún people took no offense in Ayinde wasiu song.. Because you have no understand of what he said in the song "Kofi nene" are names attributed to èwe tribes in Togo and Ghana, no Ègún, Ogu bears Kofi, nene,
Ajovi, àjò to o are Ègún Language and means a thief and a liar in Ègún language.

That movie is not suppose to cause any uproar if people think it's an attack on Asiwaju strong hold on Lagos politics, atleast this last election have shown that lagosians have their mind of there own.. Most lagosians hate PDP with passion, that's why AD, ACN now APC held sway with elections.
Sanwo Olú is doing well. Atleast to his best of his capacity and capability, that's why he won the governorship election.
Lagos has been blessed with good governors right from the days of Mike ahigbe, ragi rasiki, bank Anthony,Marwan took it a top notch, Tinubu.. If people knew what idumota and akpongbon was... They won't talk bad about Tinubu, that man cleared those bridges people were selling ware and no go area. TINUBU cleared island.. Made most of the banks that ran away to Vi to come back to broad street and marina, Fashola.. My guy.. Lere man took it further, am òde did well too except for fighting the lawman people.

My point is people going against that movie need to channel their strength to something better, that movie was made before election. TINUBU IS OUR NEXT PRESIDENT, anyone that doesn't like the t should go and hit his or her head on the rock.
