Diogenes syndrome is a big case and I can never put up with someone with a dirty habit. That alone is enough reason to kick him out.
My advise is you sit him down and have a heart to heart talk with him. Let him go find an apartment even if its a only room apartment. Know how much the rent is and how much he has and support him financially to pay for the room and move out.
This way their will be no I'll feelings etc.

When we were younger my brother would tell me to tell his friends he is not disposed. I did it the first few times before noticing he always claimed I never tried waking him up. The next time they came, I opened the whole gate for them and they marched to his room.

It's how they will push you to do something and later go on to hide hands that always amuse me. Men don't like to be in hot spots so they shift the blame on others usually women. If you see a man who accepts his faults easily, lol feed him 10 times a day
