Something isn't clear to me. Project financing :Dangote Group =50%
:Nigeria Banks =50%

Is it that Nigeria banks gave Dangote loans to the tone of 50% of their own initial investments or got a share holding of 50% and how comes Dangote group held almost 86% share of this refinary when NNPC controlled 20% ownership?

If you think dangote owes the refinery, then you seriously need to think again. Dude, that refinery was only built in his name because the man is already famous nothing else.

Banks financed. That's they gave loans for the construction. They will be paid back.

All I know is that. Just that one and I mean that one investment by Dangote a Fulani man from the North and Muslim, is greater than all Igbo investment put together in Lagos since 1960. grin
Oga Dangote is not a Fulani man. He's a pure Hausa man.

Dangote refinery cost $18b.Buhari has spent over $10trillion is paying subsidy. What stops him from building new refineries?

Looting like Abacha stopped him.
Unfortunately, Tinubu will be worse.

socialmediaman:
The 2018 Rating by Transparency International placed Nigeria at 148th position out of 180 countries. Nigeria was improving over the years under the previous government, until Buhari got elected as president, things became worse.

There is a difference between fact and fiction. We need to face facts, Buhari is worse than GEJ when it comes to fighting corruption, at least that’s what the facts prove.

Most of us believed there was corruption under Goodluck Jonathan’s Government. I agree with those who did, there was corruption, but not as bad as it is today under Mohammadu Buhari.

In 2012, Nigeria was placed at 139th position, In 2014, Nigeria gained 3 steps and was placed at 136th position. Under Buhari, Nigeria has lost many positions down to 148th.

There’s no further proof needed that corruption has worsened under Buhari’s government compared to previous years.

I see Igbo names in the non executives yet yorubas are acting as if they now own Dangote to the exclusion of Igbos

Yorubas don't care about who owns Dangote or not.

It is Ibos that are bitter and envious of Dangote.

What is important to an average Yoruba is that Dangote group is growing and adding alot of values to our economy in the South West

Non executive directors cannot be sacked

They can be sacked or replaced. They are employees basically.

It is the Executive Directors that are the Big Deal. They represent those with Equity on the Management Board. For instance, a Dangote son or daughter can be an Executive Member depending on his/her Equity holdings. You can't sack him literarily unless he or she divest. It is no so for Non-Exceutives.

This is how one spot those with poor education.

Olodo, here is education for you.

When you see the term "Independent" Non-executive Director, know that person has no shares (and does not represent anybody that has shares) in the company.

You can go and tear you useless education certificates now.

Unemployable "yoot".

Do you know that non-executives are board members?

Now what brings one into the board? Shares.

This one just confidently carry everything upside down. It is executive directors that are employees and not non-executive directors. That's why in the report and in some cases non executive directors are referred to as "independent" non-executive directors. They are non-executive because they execute nothing only represent their interests or that of some interest on the board.

EDs are involved in d the day to day running of the business, head several strategic segments of a business & report directly to d MD daily. They assist the MD in formulating and executing policy& driving the strategic objectives of the biz as set by the board. They are professionals who rise thru d ranks or are poached from other companies.

Depending on the structure of the company, EDs could sometimes be members of the board along with the non-executive directors. You can have a board without EDs but you can't have a board without non-executive directors

Dangote Group is a group of companies while Aliko Dangote is an INDIVIDUAL. This has to be separated for legal reason and business sense. Make we also learn from this.

This black rock is not a good ideal of investor.

They’re sleek baaaaastards but this is not the US where you can make bank from share prices. The company needs to actually be doing well for any of their backdoor takeover, else they’ll be wasting their money trying to control a Nigeria corporation.

Average Igbos (mainly the poor and struggling) always pick fights with other tribes foolishly while the rich and elite enjoy and keep building bridges with other tribes

Banks finance projects without taking equity.. they only put a lien on a property they’re financing… which gives them the 1st right of refusal in liquidation and bankruptcy proceedings. Banks make their $$ from interest rates, loan origination and brokerage fees etc

Don’t mislead readers. Debenture holders don’t control companies. Ok?

They are just money lenders. They have no stake at all in the company. As Dangote pays back the debts, the lenders’ grip on any collateral that Dangote could have used to secure such loan reduces.

Look at the pie chart you depicted. It showing contrary percentage as to the 1% you wrote in your article.

What The Guardian Newspaoer put there was just a highlight of the deal.
Common.
