Removal is already a foregone conclusion...!

However, cushioning and palliatives should have been put in place long before now!

It is not just about outright removal of fuel subsidy, there should be decisive measures put in place to cushion it's effects on the citizenry and economy

Useless, wicked and insensitive bunch of jokers called Leaders. The proceeds from the removal of this subsidy would be looted by Tinubu and his cronies. This economic policy is inimical and detrimental to the interests of the common Nigerians

How exactly will they steal more money? Let's assume I'm an oil marketer and i purchase petrol from Russia at 480 and sell at 520, to independent marketers and they resell at the petrol stations for a profit, how will the government find money to steal from it?

The problem.is not removing subsidy..Now the president has ordered palliatives that is open to abuse. We need to know what is the size of the palliatives. Where is it going to be sourced when government did not budget for subsidy. What are the structure to implement the palliatives. The problems of.every local government and state differs. Buses.may not be the critical issue in many states. Some areas are water, good roads, erosion.control, drainages, street light, repair of primary and secondary school, remodeling of police stations etc..A generalized purchase of.buses is open.to corruption and may not have desired impact.

So anyone that does not support government policy has a dislike for the president abi? See your life.

How can you hurry to anounce fuel subsidy in your inauguration without prior planning?
Is that not a red flag?

I support the removal of subsidy, but the governmt should have made provisions.

Now that transprt fare is skyrocketing, no more savings at month end.

There won't b any meaningful palliative. It's better d subsidy remains or is not removed completely.

A big turn off and bad move. In the president 4 tenures, if fuel price cannot drop to 200 or below it,max 220per litre. To me, the government is heading to be failing. If they will turn situations around or fail woefully, that I don't know. But we all are following this present administration on policies and core decisions they will be making in the 6months to a year.

Self denial is killing you if you don't know. You're yet to overcome the pains and agonies of Obi's loss, reason why you and your ilks will rather watch the country burn just to spite the patriotic Nigerians who didn't support your packaged candidate. You will cry everyday while we navigate through the hard times to a better Nigeria.

How is subsidy responsible for Nigeria's staggering debt profile?

Is it only subsidy that loans were used for?

How are loans being used to subsidise fuel for the entire ECOWAS region?

How will removal of subsidy stop smuggling?
Cost of Subsidized PMS is between 190 to 225. Cost of PMS in neighbouring countries is roughly 500-600 equivalence in naira. The border cartel smuggle fuel due to the glaring disparity and make huge profits. What is smuggled is this same subsidized PMS Nigeria is paying for. So, willynilly we are paying for the subregion. When the cost equalizes, who would smuggle fuel across to earn near to zero revenue? The amount paid daily to subsidize fuel is staggering. between 60m and 100m litres of fuel subsidy is paid daily. The difference between 190 naira ( the subsidized rate) and the unsubsidized rate 500 to 600 naira per litre is multiplied by 60 to 100m to give u amount being paid daily for subsidy. This is roughly 400 naira times 100m at the extreme, knowing our country and corruption. This gives you roughly N40b daily. Get this to a year 40bx 366 = that's about N14.7t naira yearly. For eight years, we shall have paid N118.4 t. You can now see how this increases national debt and inefficiency of governments. The NNPCL mafia and marketers are not helping matters, because they hide under subsidy to trade fictitious figures of PMS supplies. You garrit now?

We deserve to see the template used in the computation
The pump prices are not arbitrary
The president should be open on this. Subsidy must go but the President should be well guided on the pricing. There are so many self centred and greedy individuals around the corridor of power

You are the one with empty brain here.
I have only encouraged someone who was losing hope. That's all.

As if you have never been encouraged by words in your life at some point...

You are quick to abuse and show how low and uncouth you are.... You really have no shame, no brain, no life and no love.

There is place for everything in life. Where to work, work! Where to pray, pray! Where to encourage, encourage!

Get wisdom, please ....... Silence is also golden if you have nothing tangible to say. At least your foolishness will be concealed in your silence....

Outright removal of petrol subsidy will be right if the socalled rep members will agree to live on Nigeria's average minimum wage for six months without stealing money from the public coffers. These are animals that just sqaunders the cuuntry's resources at the expense of the massess. They have have nothing to show for the enormous sums they are awarding themselves aside from more amd more misery for the people.

We also call for a part time legislative arm and let them be paid according to their sittings

Nigeria cannot afford to feed your useless lifestyles anymore, all allowance gone, all aides reduced, let the police all leave the VIPS and the ones who need them should pay at least 1million monthly for their servjces, let all private jet owners pay monthly taxes also

Let all civil servants and political office holder declare and defend their assets

How does all you have said answer these questions?

1. How is subsidy responsible for Nigeria's staggering debt profile?

2. Is it only subsidy that loans were used for?

3. How are loans being used to subsidise fuel for the entire ECOWAS region?

4. How will removal of subsidy stop smuggling?

5. Pls define "inefficiencies in government".

6. Who are these "border cartel" and how do they smuggle fuel?

7. Who are these "The NNPCL mafia and marketers"? Can you pls name them?

8. the government has been removing fuel subsidy since the 90s maybe earlier. what was the percentage the government was paying for each litre of fuel as subsidy?

9. with each partial withdrawal of subsidy, what percentage of subsidy was removed and what was left?

10. in this attempt by tinubu, what was the percentage of subsidy left that he removed?
