No, that's not true. He said he asked one of the kids and she told him she's 14 - he should have seized all communication immediately.

He shouldn't have even said anything. He should never have responded to their questions but request to see a lawyer before anything. They took advantage of his lack of knowledge of UK legal system and it took him too long before he realized he was in a deep shit.
